I Have Truly Fallen In Love With ...

Lounge Wear Tanvii.com
“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line.
You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.” – Lucille Ball

It will be June next week. Let that sink in.

I have completed 12 weeks in “isolation” now. I went into quarantine two weeks earlier than most people because I had travelled outside the country when COVID-19 blew up and hence decided to take self-precautionary steps.

In the past months I have been and continue to go through a whole gamut of emotions. In the end though I always land on ‘staying still’ and being in the moment as much as possible.

Weirdly enough I have truly fallen in love with myself in the time of COVID-19. I had always enjoyed my own company. But now I also like myself as a human being. I am happy with who I have turned out to be so far, with all my flaws included. When I look at myself in the mirror, I actually like what I see; inside-out!

Life never got me down much, not for more than a few hours at-a-stretch at least. But one of my constant fears was being “lonely”. Now I am realizing that actually I am way more resilient than I ever myself credit for. Everything I have started or quit, I have given-up on or taken-on ... has been a lesson, a path towards growth and self-discovery. And what a fulfilling journey it has been so far ...

So on days when I feel lost, or find myself stepping towards an abyss of negativity I try and remind myself of everything I have learned, everything I have to be grateful for, everything that has made my life wonderful so far ... If things have worked-out so far, they most probably will in the future too ...

🎵... Que sera sera
Whatever will be will be
The future's not ours to see ... 🎵

Few things to I have made peace with:
  • Only my own actions and reactions are in my control
  • No one else gets to decide what I want from my life
  • I owe no one any explanation, what-so-ever

  1. Good for you! Few people are as happy with themselves as you describe.

  2. I can did that. No one else gets to decide what I want for my life. Such a powerful revelation but sadly a lot of us let others decide.

  10. It sounds like you've had an insightful time during quarantine. I have as well! I've had more time to ponder over things that I didn't have time to think about before and I feel like it's changed me a lot as a person. This was definitely much needed <3

  11. Absolutely love this post because I think it's important for us to love ourselves, but I also think you make such a great point that we can only control our own actions and thoughts. No one else's, and sometimes this is difficult but I just need to move past it.

  12. Falling in love with ourselves is not selfishness or narcissism, but only arriving at the awareness of how happy we can be by accepting ourselves for what we are.

  20. It sounds like you're in a good, strong place right now which is so inspiring for many. Isolation has been such a tough time for so many. I'm in NY and it has been a struggle many days but I think for the most part, I've held up well and to see the state slowly reopening has been a great relief in many ways for me. You look great! Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

  23. It is nice to read some positivity in these times. I am seriously at the end of my rope with all that has been going on. The trump election and all that insued, the rise of the alt right, the murders of unarmed black men, the pandemic, people refusing to wear masks, demonizing all white women calling them "Karens" the non stop rage and anger in the U.S. is palpable. And then to be holed up on top it is really challenging.

I wish I could take a joy pill to escape from it for a bit...

And you have a great space btw.
