I am a wholehearted devotee of the staycation, which may come as a surprise to those who know my love for travel. Going to sleep on a plane and waking up in London or France is a thrill, and zipping up to New York for a long weekend is a treat, but travel and vacation are not always compatible; the jet lag and stress of highways and airports can erase your vacation chill. When you need to unravel that knot of tension in your shoulders and get some real, restorative sleep, staycation is the answer!
Recently we spend a relaxing weekend at One Washington Circle Hotel, my third stay with a Modus Property. It has an easy access to all of the sights and attractions of Washington DC. This spacious hotel contains all the amenities of home, including a kitchen or kitchenette in every room. It feels like a home away from home, without the everyday life responsibilities. We were a big fan of the fruit bowl, and detox water in the lobby. It got us refreshed even after a hot and humid summer day in the city.
You can enjoy a cocktail by the outdoor patio or take a dip in the pool during summer months or enjoy a delicious meal at Circle Bistro. I would say it is an ideal location for a Staycation in the city or for people visiting who would like to be centrally located. Keep scrolling down to checkout the pictures from the stay.
- There is no wasted travel day on the front and end of a vacation -- two vacation days saved!
- No travel means no physical drain. Let’s admit it, travel is exhausting.
- You don’t have to spend your vacation with strangers, either on flights or in hotels.
- If the weather is lousy, who cares? Adjust.
- Your vacation can’t be cancelled by an airline or other travel situation.
Here's what we did on your staycation:
Visit to a local museum
We checked out the new exhibit at the Renwick Gallery. It was one on my recent favorite. If you have a moment check it out on the highlights on Instagram under "OWC Hotel"Checked out the local trails
Planned our own food fest
We also use the staycation weekends to checkout the new or our favorite D.C. restaurants. Since we don't have to drive an hour or look for parking the joy of a delicious meal is even more.
Here's the photo diary of our stay at One Washington Circle Hotel

Such a fun staycation! I need to plan one for my city (Boston) for the fall. Plus - it's so nice to be able to do things in your city and to sleep in a comfy bed afterwards.

ReplyDeleteSo fun!! The hotel looks beautiful... I'm also ALL about staycations; it's so nice to get out and explore your own city, or literally use it as an opportunity to do nothing and relax. :)

Staycations are the ultimate form of rest and relaxation to me. I can't wait for another opportunity for something like this in my future. This hotel isn't far from where I live so I might need to do a "barely outside of my city staycation" if that's a thing haha!
ReplyDeleteThese are some great tips to consider. and the hotel looks really awesome to stay in and those foods looks delicious. Hope you had a wonderful time there.
ReplyDeleteI have never had a staycation but it actually sounds really fun and way more relaxing than going away!
