We usually give 90% of our attention to our faces, which ends up leaving rest of our body neglected. Winter months can be harsh on our skin if we don’t take proper care. In this post I am sharing tips on how to take care of some of the neglected areas of our bodies.
1. Soft and Smooth Skin All Over
Winter Itch due to dryness is a cause for concern for many people. Skimping on moisturizing is not a good idea in the coming months. Even better, switch to in-shower oil for mornings and a deep cream for nights to lock in that moisture 24/7.
2. Pay attention to the nooks and corners
Summertime is for pedicures and waxing, but we tend to neglect those areas when we swap in our less-revealing winter wardrobes. You want to be active in moisturizing the elbows, feet, neck and hands all year long. Cracked heels and dry elbows are not a pretty sight.
3. Care for your underarms.
Underarm skin is sensitive and an area that shouldn’t be overlooked. Dr. Alicia Barba, a dermatologist with Dove, reminds us that textures and fabrics in sweaters, undergarments and t-shirts can irritate the skin. Underneath all those layers, you’ll need a product that keeps you hydrated and protected. Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant is formulated with moisturizers to help alleviate irritation and leave you with softer and smoother underarms. It also provides 48-hour odor and wetness protection. Check out Dove Advanced Care and their complete collection here.
4. Sunscreen for all seasons.
Pack away the bikinis and sarongs, but keep the sunscreen right next to your daily moisturizer. Dr. Barba suggests switching to a moisturizing sunscreen, a bit richer than your summer product. Harmful UV rays don’t take a break for cold weather. Even if you’re bundled up, sunscreen is a must for your face, and any other skin that’s not covered up.
5. Pucker Up.
One other body part which suffers severely during the winter months is our lips. You want to ensure you apply either coconut oil or petroleum jelly at bedtime and carry a lip balm during the day. Soft and supple lips are a thing for year-round.

Ohh, definitely going to look at switch to in-shower oils! Something I have never tried before. But if it keeps the skin soft! Im in!
ReplyDeleteYour guidelines for underarm care is something that was really much needed by me on this point of time.. It's winter in India now and every single day I am facing dry skin related problems.. I love Dove products. I have used their Intense repair shampoo and it's really effective..
ReplyDeleteThese are definitely some great tips. I just moved to the east coast so this is my first time experiencing a "real winter" and have definitely noticed a dryness with my lips and skin. Will have to take much greater care than what I'm used to.
ReplyDeleteYou can bet your bottom dollar that I'm taking care of my lips year round, as I do have an addiction to chapstick. But I do need to be more aware of wearing sunscreen year round instead of only during the summer month. Great tips!
ReplyDeleteDove is a great brand and I use it daily I been using their products for more than 6 months and my skin feels great

ReplyDeleteAnything Dove products is good for me. Yes you are right, we only pay attention to our faces.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminders. I watch my kids and make sure they are taken care of (especially lips around here) but usually forget myself. This seems pretty easy.
ReplyDeleteWe have tough winters where I live, so I definitely have to take extra steps to be sure my kids and I aren't letting our skin or lips get too dry.
ReplyDeleteOh I love this post. I also have very dry skin and need to use different products in the winter.
ReplyDeleteFantastic advice, I need to stop forgetting to use my body moisturisers more. Also great advice about the heels and elbows!
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love the products by Dove. Their new advanced cream and suntan creams are really good. I tried them last summer and switched to them from vaseline.
ReplyDeleteGood advice to hold off aging for another day. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThese are fantastic tips! It's easy to forget how important it is to take care of our skin!
ReplyDeleteWhere I live the winters aren't as tough but for this year for some reason I think it's going to be a long winter. Snow in December is very rare in Atlanta! But I have very dry skin and during the colder months is when my skin gets REALLY dry! Nice tips!
ReplyDeleteSuch great tips! I tend to skip moisturising during winter months as I just feel to cold to apply cream on my body every morning.
ReplyDeleteThese are great tips for the winter, I’ve always hated what winter does to my body. Especially my finger nails and my back, even if I put lotion on.
ReplyDeleteGreat advice for preparing for the winter months. No one likes dried out skin.
ReplyDeleteMy body is in denial about winter, but I have to take care of it. I need to work harder on a good skin care routine!
ReplyDeleteWe get crazy dry air here in the winter month and I swear my skin can never get enough moisture!
