“Life is long. And it’s getting longer for most of us. Most people in this country will have three or four marriages in their lifetime. Each one will challenge them and suit them in a different way. The lucky few, the ones who are willing to work at it, will have a handful of very different marriages, all with the same person. —”
“(on fading passion) Sex was like the can of baking powder she kept on a high shelf in her pantry, something she didn’t need right now but that she knew she could get her hands on without too much trouble.”
“I'm too busy being the bad guy.” It was one of those things that get said in a marriage, something that starts out as a genuine compliment but turns into a criticism without either party noticing or caring all that much.”
"We all have a strong preference that life should be easy, comfortable, and pain free, but that doesn't mean there's something wrong with life when it isn't those things. It's just life. It's just life and it's not how you would prefer it to be, but that doesn't mean there's something wrong with it."
Moving on to the outfit, this year I got to tick off something on my bucket list - witnessing 'autumn in central park' in all it's glory. I got some beautiful brights shots in a wonderful toasty autumn sun.
That sounds like an incredibly good read Tanvi and that quote about the lucky few having a handful of very different marriages with the same person actually gave me goose bumps. How true is that. I need to see if I can get it on my Kindle, I've been dying to try a new Author and I haven't read anything by Sarah Dunn
ReplyDeleteI hope you like it as much as I did ... It is a wonderful read. This was my first time reading anything from Sarah Dunn as well. I suppose she is a writer for TV shows and such.

ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a very fascinating book and I'm interested in reading it. NY has been calling my name recently. I haven't back to NYC in several years (I have been to Long Island a couple times). I've been in the city in October and December. It's lovely that time of year, but I really want to go in the spring & summer (mostly to go to Yankee Stadium & Citi Field).
ReplyDeleteWow!!! The lighting is just MAGICAL! Your dress looks like it was made for you! And those boots perfectly finish this look!
ReplyDeleteThose quotes from the book makes me want to give it read and it must be very interesting for you to read for 6 hours long! Loving the outfit. Very classy.
ReplyDeleteI also never read a book about an open marriage and it seems rather intriguing. I know I'm looking forward to picking it up. Love the look, and all through the photos I keep saying she looks like she is in Central park and I was right.

ReplyDeleteShe walks in beauty, like the night
ReplyDeleteOf cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that’s best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes;
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies...
