... I used to be an accessory aficionado. I had been collecting jewelry since my early teens. Then I lost all of it, when my house of burglarized a few years back. ... but worry not ... I continued to buy more. I loved collecting unique pieces from my travels. I also loved adding to my Indian ethnic collection. The more different and outlandish the piece, the better. I still own a crazy-huge statement necklace collection.
However, when on my recent trip I didn't bring a single piece of jewelry with me (not even a watch!), it dawned upon me how I had changed. Until a few years back, I would have packed a necklace, earrings and rings to match my every outfit option. And today, I didn't even remember to carry a pair of stud!
Mostly this behavior seems like a by-product of my over all life philosophy to live fuss-free. Accessories, after a few hours start to bother me. Rings make me feel I can't move my fingers, necklaces feel heavy around my neck, earrings make my ears itch ... so on and so forth. I have been going jewelry free in everyday life for years, but now it looks like I am not making the effort nine out of ten times while stepping out either. Whenever I do remember to wear jewelry, it is mostly out of the guilt and pressure of using all the 'stuff' I own, else I will be tempted to give it away. Safe to say, I have not bought any jewelry in a LONG time.

But the positive takeaway from this change in behavior is that while accessories can bring an outfit together, not wearing them doesn't really take anything away from the look. Or so is what I believe.

I am a jewelry freak but I love the simplicity that comes without it. It's good to know one can also look gorgeous and classy without all of those things...these photos says it all!

ReplyDeletei like informations , i amlearning someting new :) thanks for sharing this
ReplyDeleteLOVE this outfit! And I'm a minimal jewelry kind of girl too!
ReplyDeleteLove this. Sometimes I just dont want to wear accessories and you covered it nicely! https://mylogicalliving.com/
ReplyDeleteI used to love wearing loads of chunky rings and beautiful necklaces but since I started DIY'ing they've become pretty ornaments in the bedroom and I don't really miss wearing them at all. And judging by how lovely you look Tanvi they can stay in the bedroom ;-)
ReplyDeleteI am really loving the color of your dress. I don’t wear much jewelry either
ReplyDeleteNow here is a dress and cover up that I would wear and many times over. No it doesn't need anything else to go with it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty outfit. Jewelry can add to an ensemble but isn't essential to it. A simple look of just clothes is always fine.
ReplyDeleteI am not big into jewelry when I dress up but the minimum I will wear is earrings. I haven't worn a watch a year. It doesn't take away from my look at all
ReplyDeleteI am quite the same. I don't wear jewellery unless it is a really special occasion. The last time I wore earrings it was at my 30th birthday. I do wear a watch but that is because it has sentimental value to me. However, since I've got my tattoo exactly on the wrist where the watch would go, I stopped wearing it as well.
ReplyDeleteI've always been into rings. I own a ton of rings, but I hardly wear them. You'll see in my outfit posts that I tend to wear my wedding ring and my watch and that's about it. I was in Florida over the weekend for a wedding and didn't pack any jewelry.

I agree with you, an outfit can still be perfectly beautiful without all sorts added on top. I'm much the same, I don't reach for anything much these days unless its for something really special and then they will start to irritate my while I am wearing them, then as you've mentioned..wearing them more out of guilt. I love the outfit you are wearing here and it doesn't look like its 'missing something' either.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I can do it. I honestly feel like you're not dressed without accessories. But I'm a flashy girl, I've accepted that part of myself.
ReplyDeleteSometimes there is nothing like the perfect uncluttered sophisticated look. I change it up with my mood. Sometimes I pile it all on and sometimes its super minimal.

I have never been a great style personality. Too much of a nerd. But I used to always want to wear at least one piece of jewelry. At least until I started having children. Then, jewelry became too much of a hassle. Can't tell you how many necklaces they have broken by yanking on them. Earrings are dangerous. I have a jewelry box that has so many pieces in it, but they rarely get attention. And I have come to find, that is perfectly fine. Simplistic beauty is still beauty. And it is far more classy at times.
ReplyDeleteI wear classic pieces of jewelry every day. Same items that never change. They provide me with comfort remembering who gave them to me and remembering the special day
ReplyDeleteI love this minimalist look. It is so classy. I'm not a big accessory person either, and the pieces I do wear are pretty understated - my wedding ring, stud earrings etc. I can't go without a watch, though. I'm lost without that!
ReplyDeleteI almost never wear accessories! I love the look.
ReplyDeleteI wear jewelry when I go out. Even when running errands, I usually wear earrings and/or a necklace. I tend to wear more minimalist jewelry, though I do have a view bigger pieces (mostly statement rings).
ReplyDeleteI love this look! And to me it also seems perfectly complete without additional jewellery. Maybe it would only over-burden it. I also used to wear much more than I do now.
ReplyDeleteGreat look! I never really accessorise as I always wear the same jewellery which has sentimental value to me.
ReplyDeletei like accessories but i dont use them regularly..i like to keep things minimal so yes this speaks to me!
ReplyDeleteI definitely love accessories! However, I like going without them sometimes to switch it up.
ReplyDeleteI love that green kimono. I think it looks really pretty with pink and brown.
ReplyDeletei love the jewelry i have some pandoras, caperci, ever queen i bought the majority in plate i think if you bought some you need some forever, the jewelry is so important to me nice post i love the pictures to :)

ReplyDeleteI love how you can pull off an outfit even without accessories. I thought it was a must, clearly it isn't ^^
ReplyDeleteWow you look gorgeous, I love jewelries sometimes I wear it. This article I learned pretty style even without jewelries or accessories.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how we wear jewellery all the time, ey! I was about to type in I agree can actually go without accessories then I remembered my ear rings are a part of me I actually forget they're an add-on, lol
ReplyDeleteYou are looking absolutely stunning and most of the time I am without jewellery and it looks great how we carry ourselves.
ReplyDeleteI love jewelry. I always collect different rings and necklaces every time I travel. And I kept it very carefully, my dress was indispensable.
ReplyDeletei love the pop of pink! so bright! and i'm totally with you, I LOVE jewelry but there are certain days/moods/outfits that I just don't think warrants the need for any.
ReplyDeleteYou looks so beautiful in your outfit even though you don't have any accessories. and It looks so amazing in how you carry yourselves.
ReplyDeleteI don't know that I could go without accessories (jewelry). Even if it's making a quick run to the store, I need on a simple ring and hoop earrings.

I love this article. =) The colors pop, and without accessories, there is so much focus on the style. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThat sucks you lost all your jewelry. But I hear you about comfort it is kind of uncomfortable and can be hard to work on a computer with some jewelry. I have some but often forget to put in on in the morning or when I do I take if of at work and then forget it!
ReplyDeleteBut add a pop of color to your look like you did and you are good!

Your journey resonates with me quite a bit - I am probably nearing where you have already gone - still have and like my statement pieces (got two grand ones for Diwali to realise I may not use it much) but the whole fuss of it all esp with two young kids and both of us working is proving to be unmanageable! We moved last week and I am gagging at the amount of 'stuff' I have! I remember clearly the days I packed accessories and shoes on 10day travels lol! But given I am from the south of India where going empty ear or neck is considered inauspicious I tend to wear one of my gold studs and forget for months and then there are days when I change it all constantly!
ReplyDeleteI believe I am at a good age (late 30s) where I have realised my style, affordability, what works for me and my lifestyle and mostly going thru a journey of discovering myself!
Thanks for reminding this via the post - very timely for me!
