Less Blogging. More Living.

Slowly and steadily I am finding a new balance with social media. Less time on phone and more time with my thoughts, books and tv. I have this strongest urge to disconnect lately. Unlike earlier times, when I would go for a week or monthly long detox, today I feel the need to reduce the time I spend with screens all together and not temporarily.

I have almost started craving the time when the only way someone could get in touch with you was by booking a call in advance at a pre-decided time. An ideal mix for me would be emails which I can reply to whenever I decide, and operator run phone calls. I have been talking to my husband on how (and if!) we can go back to Nokia? It is not a passing thought. I have been marinating in it for a quite a few months.

For the first time in nine years, I had even considered quitting blogging (the jury is still out on it!) just to cut on my time on social media. So far I have compromised with myself to blog between one to three post, and/or only when my heart desires. Literally, burning my blog calendar to ashes.

I am happier outdoors. I am happier disconnected. I am happier when I share less. I am also happier when I block all the unnecessary outside noise.

Moving on to the outfit ... Rent The Runway has been my go for all fancy events. I cannot imagine spending a dime on something I will only wear once. Lately, I have been indulging in some weekend wear too. Y'know, why not? :) If you haven't tried it, I would highly recommend it.

  1. Good for you. We need to find the right balance -- and modern life pushes us too hard toward online activity.

  2. Rent the Runway is the best! You can just rent it, wear it and then return it. No need for additional closet space!

  3. You look absolutely stunning in blue! And YES to MORE LIVING and LESS social media. xx

  4. Lovely blue dress. I remember using RTR back in 2010 when it was a much smaller company than it is now. The concept behind it is still so great.

And I think it's good that you are finding out that you're happier when you're more disconnected from social media/emails and the like. I think you have to find a healthy balance in life. If that means one post a week on the blog and social, then that's what it means. I mean, for me, blogging is something that allows me to express myself and it's something that I enjoy. But if I stopped enjoying it, then I wouldn't see a purpose in continuing either. So if you still enjoy it -- or if you find that doing it less is more joyful, then I think that's what you should do. I would hate if you stopped blogging, but it would be the right call if you simply don't get any joy from doing it any more.

  5. I love this dress! Such a great vibrant color and gorgeous style on you! And I definitely relate to your need to disconnect and move away from social media/technology day after day! It is exhausting trying to keep up with everything going on around us - it's nice to just relax without technology!

  6. Awww Tanvi! Please don't quit. I love your blog! This was me late last year. I felt burnt out and tired, and was suffering from terrible eye strain due to being on my phone constantly. My husband helped me find balance and now most days, I put away my phone at 9:30pm at night, no ifs, ands or buts about it.

You are so gorgeous, by the way. That cobalt blue is stunning on you. And loving the new hair!!! xoxoxo

  7. Girl you look gorgeous! And I totally agree about social media/blogging. I'm starting to really find it exhausting and have been loving time away. I just have other things I need to focus on! I go back and forth on sticking with blogging lol

  8. i hear you outside noise and when its just too much. i have cut back on blogging mainly coz of time creating content rather than not marketing them..and also its nice to be away from social media.

  9. I completely understand your frustration and can completely relate. I've been trying to find a balance lately and haven't found my spark yet to blog like I once did. Keep at it though! I love your posts :)

  11. It's so hard to strike the right balance sometimes. Glad you are doing what works best for you!
