Hi Tanvi,
On the anniversary of your blog, here’s a picture of me!
Just to explain: Instead of wearing a churidaar-kurta to an Indian party, I decided to mix it up, using your advice! I wore a yellow cotton Fab India top with the silk churidaar, and then topped it with an A-cut long sweater. You can see the ring and watch were my major accessories. I decided to wear my red booties to complete the look.
I think she did great! I love when Indian pieces are mixed with western ones to make the outfit pop. What do you guys think? P.S. Genuine feedback is welcome, nasty criticism is not.
If you have been inspired by my blog and wish to share your outfit with everyone feel free to email me your photo. If you do not wish for your name to be revealed, you can choose to stay Anonymous.

ReplyDeleteI agree with the Caribbean Princess on the marriage of colours. Have a nice weekend;-)
ReplyDeleteFirst, I love this concept of readers sharing their experiments and what they learnt!
ReplyDeleteSecond, she looks great! I almost thought it was a dress!
gorgeous colour combo! just yesterday i was thinking how great it would be if i did a segment where you would choose my look for like a date night or something. i'm not kidding! almost like a virtual shopper or something like that. we'll see...xx

I like the whole look. And thnx for sharing it here.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea!I'm so glad you started this section!Yeah,I think she EXUDES grace and elegance!I LOVE the way she has layered using the sweater! And the Fab India top is pretty cool too!I'm such a HUGE fan of Fab India!I just wish she spiced up the look a little bit more using a more colorful pair of booties.I'm such a neon person!Feel a little cheated without little bit of neon in everything.;-)
ReplyDeleteBut that's just me.She looks fabulous anyway! And that's why she's on 'The Fabulous Life of Not-So-Rich and Infamous',right?;-)
She looks absolutely fabulous. I've always wanted to mix & match Indian & western styles, but my attempts tend to fall flat.
ReplyDeleteThe colors go beautifully together. And I like the mix of pieces from different cultures.
ReplyDeleteI've often thought of doing this but am afraid of being seen as disrespectful toward the culture of which I'm not a member. I've seen women criticized for wearing clothes from other societies and don't want to be insensitive. My use of those items would be respectful but it's hard to convey that by the clothes alone.
Is it different/easier for Indian women to add Western garments than it is for Western women to add Indian garments? Why?
More than anything else, I love the way she is posing! Way too adorable!
ReplyDeleteI think this thing that you have started is just great. I'd like to send you my picture! Tehe!
ReplyDeleteThe woman looks great. It does not look like a kurta at all. Looks like a perfect dress. Great colour combinations. :)
What a brilliant idea on both your parts.
