Similarly I never value the opinion of people behind the blogs which 'critic celebrity fashion' or 'street fashion'. First show me how you dress every day, and then I will listen to what you have to say. It is so easy to sit behind the shield of your laptop and type "oh! She was wearing this wrong and that wrong!"
On the contrary, when I do know the people behind the voice and know where they are coming from then I absolutely love listening to/reading their thoughts and opinions about various subjects. I might even take their advice ;) .. And this is also a follow up of sorts from my post 'Unfavorable Feedback'. I might remember the unfavorable feedback but doesn't mean that I let it get to me. I just have a good memory but pretty much believe in doing my own thing. And so should you! If you feel good and are not doing anything to hurt someone intentionally, then you are doing everything you can!
These pictures were taken at the River Walk, at night.

i agree with you! i believe everybody should follow the "lead by example" standpoint! i hate it when people start to state facts that they cannot prove or have no qualifications to prove! ps" i love ur sparkly top :)
ReplyDeleteA very strong point and a cute outfit! I tend to value all different opinions but I end up doing what I think is best.
ReplyDeletenice thought ... and ur out fit looks awesome the yellow light shows u more beautiful..........
ReplyDeletecheck my blog new look ...

OH my god yes!!!! I agree with you 100%!!!! My main grouse with celeb style critic blogs is just this- who the hell are you to comment and put down someone's style? Show me yours, for all I know..you are wearing something out of this world hideous while saying snarky things about someone else's fashion.
ReplyDeleteSimilarly, nameless/faceless people saying similar pointless things on fashion blogs, has pretty much the same effect on me. If you have personal fashion blog, where I can see what your idea of stylee is, by all means give me your two cents. But if all you do is post pictures from all over the internet and give your gyaan on said things, your opinion means next to nothing!!!
End of rant :)
you look all sharmili like in these pics :) Love the shimmer and shine of this outfit :)
lead by example is good ...with experience comes knowledge...I may not hve a great body but i do have knowledge of what exercise is good for a particular body part..
ReplyDeleteYou my darling Tanvivacious are a leader. Fullstop. You think like a leader. You walk the walk and talk the talk but most importantly... you walk the talk. YOU lead by example.
ReplyDelete..and damn woman... you are gorgeous! And kudos to Dr Fab... his pics are getting better and better!
Firstly, I HAD to go straight to your pictures today, though i don't do that too often, I love the way you write. Because you look SO gorgeous! Your hubby might've drooled this night na :D So prettyy T! :')
ReplyDeleteThe feedback! YES! I totally TOTALLY agree! I got such just a few weeks back & I wanted to put forth the same to her/him/them but I held myself. I'm so glad you did ! :)
Again, i'm stealing your legs.

Absolutely adore your shoes here. And loving the pictures, you're looking lovely :) xx
ReplyDeleteI agree. There's no point listening to someone's advice unless you know them and know that they've got that part of their life pretty under control.
ReplyDeleteThe sparkly top is so pretty, it the colour looks beautiful.
Take my advice, take only advice from qualified people. Quacks give the most advice, really qualified people in any area limit it to a few well researched advice.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Love the shoes :)
Happy Rakhi and gettin richer today ! :D
Totally agree about leading by example--nothing worse than unsolicited advice from people who don't practice what they preach! You are totally working it in those photos, Tanvi--love them! Hope you have a great weekend, gorgeous! xx
ReplyDeleteThis post stuck a chord with me. People management in day-to-day life is a tough job that everyone of us end up doing! The last line of 3rd para in this post said it all! Thanks for sharing this thought
ReplyDeletewhoa!!awesome
ReplyDeleteThe shoes. ♥
ReplyDeleteVery well said! I like ur writing..honest, straight from the heart..:) the styling & photos r fantastic..the second pic is my favourite!
ReplyDeleteCheers

I consciously seek advice but eventually the decisions are mine, that I'm sure of. I think even if people have their lives sorted and give me advice, finally I'm the one who knows what's going on, so the option is to take responsibility of my own life and work it out...I feel that's what one should aim for...how else can we be individuals! I love this shrug!
ReplyDeleteI agree-lead by example : )
ReplyDeleteTHese are lovely pics- great sparkly top!!

You're right, leading by example is the best way to get others to follow/trust your advice! Love the way you have layered the sequins over your dress :)
ReplyDelete♥ Leia
Leading by example is a great way to live life Tanvi. Opinions are just opinions and cannot be taken too seriously unless there is some weight behind it. I am especially amused by the art critics, food critics, book critics who have never created anything noteworthy:):) As usual, your style blows me away....every time:)
ReplyDeletevery artistic!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove ur pics..

I adore your spunky attitude as much as your sparkling fashion-style. Your displays of confidence and independent thought are very attractive. Of the dozens of fashion-bloggers I know, you're the one I'd most want to be friends with in real life.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see that you're one of those few people who have a mind of their own. Its such a shame most people just blindly follow rules laid down by someone else who have no idea about the kind of person you are or the kind of life you live. Kudos girl :)

Lovely and the night pictures turned out so effectively.
ReplyDeleteThis hairstyle makes u look so edgy:) love it. also loving that top
ReplyDeleteVery well said!! And in the end to take responsibility for your own decisions needs courage..the moment you own your decisions you own your life..It is quite liberating actually to lead by example..I have observed it unconsciously frees me of getting affected by any kind of criticism :)
ReplyDeletephew..after that little speech..love the shrug!! how by a simple trick you have added glamour to that dress :)
Preach on sister! I totally agree with you and truly, no one knows it ALL. Love your shurg and dress. Very pretty! Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. I only take advice or value the opinion on certain things from people who have the experience and talent to give it. :)
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine having the audacity to tell people what to do or seriously give criticism on something I don't know much about myself. :P
Everyone's an expert these days. Why? Because they saw it on TV or read it somewhere?! Bah.
ReplyDeleteVery well put.
ya ya we get the drift-you mix and match the best of it all-vulnerable yet strong...opinionated n yet willing to listen...and so trendy whether the sun shines or the moon rises high above:-)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!Couldn't agree more! And I laaaaaaaaaaaaabhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh your ring!It has chic written all over it!
ReplyDeleteI feel the exact same way! And thank you for your comment on my blog.
ReplyDeleteI always love reading your blog because I feel like you're always 100% honest in what you write. It helps me push myself to be less inhibited with my own blog.
So, thank you for that.
Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!
I love your attitude babes. You're my kinda gal.
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a great weekend.

Good point Tanvii, when taking advice from someone it's important to know if the person giving advice is even qualified. So many times I've done something based on the advice of a friend who had no idea what he/she is talking about.
ReplyDeleteI have a new policy of not sharing my problem with a friend until I've really thought through the situation and have some idea of what I plan to do.
Great post doll and i totes agree!

Great writting with the beautiful pics to match! I'd say this is a homerun!
ReplyDeleteNo but seriously, I respect you as a person and what you have to say because you don't seem to talk off the top of your head, you talk from experience! Happy weekend:)))
very true Tanvi. "it is always easy to say and hard to do." you look great. love your makeup here.
ReplyDeletehttp://cactusandcucumber.blogspot.com
I absolutely second you on that thought dear! Like I told you last time (on e-mail) that if ever I give slimming down a try, I'll surely turn to you.....coz I know you're quite an expert yourself (Given your enviable figure!)......oh! and the same applies for fashion too!! :)
ReplyDeleteP.S.: Loving the shimmer of the top..... :))
love the second shot from the top. great angle.
ReplyDeletecute outfit and nicely shot pics
ReplyDeleteI agree!! Love the pics.

As always Tanvi, agree with what you're saying & totally love what you're wearing!
ReplyDeleteGayatri
hi darling! u r absolutely right, nothing else to add.
ReplyDeletei love the yellow top over the black ensemble.
ReplyDeletei like to read those "10 things..." columns but only for fun as i think they're just for entertaining. it would be hard to take them seriously.
btw, YOU are my Featured Fashionista today!

Hear, hear, you wise woman!
ReplyDeleteFab outfit and a stunning setting, too. x
you was featured on the blog of one of my friend-bloggers! You blog and you style is so nice! I'm following you :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, lady! I love how you've layered the top over the little dress! Just perfect! I want to link to this outfit on my post now, since this is probably a more flattering way to layer (since it gives you a waist) for more bodies..
ReplyDeletexo
Amen girl!!! I listen to a lot of advise, but only use those that are applicable to me.
ReplyDeleteRiver walk is my favorite in San Antonio.
I agree! I recently picked up a Cosmo on a trip, and realized I'd spent the majority of my childhood and teen years fretting about what I was doing wrong in all aspects of life, then, I just stopped reading the rags and got on with my life.
ReplyDeleteYou're always such a voice of reason, Tanvi - which is why I do listen to you; plus you look pretty chic, too!
ReplyDeleteAnother inspiring post, Tanvi! Love your outfit, too. xo style, she wrote
ReplyDeletegreat shrug! i agree with you - i'm not into criticizing celeb style or street style!
ReplyDeleteLove the light in these shots. Soft and dreamy!
ReplyDeleteI like your take on those who critique fashion. So true
I actually enjoy reading lists of how to's. Just because I think everyone has an opinion...but I completely see where you are coming from.
ReplyDeleteNight photography is difficult. These are great shots. Was there lots of standing very still? I only ever did a nght shoot once when I was at Uni and myself and the model were flashed at......
ReplyDeleteI am totally with you on the lead by example front, advice given by someone you know, admire or trust is much easier to agree with. Well said. Xxxx
@Fashionistable
ReplyDeleteIt was hard. I had to stand still. There was not much posing. Mostly just practicing to be a statue in a good pose! :) But I like the how an outfit meant for a night out ... looks in the night light!
Love the pics!
ReplyDeleteAnd love the attitude flowing in this particular post! I agree, and well put!
Love!
I totally agree with you . I only take advice or value the opinion on certain things from people who have already experience it.
