P.S. if it sounds too spicy then I blame it on the Indian Food I had last night! :P
So, here we go ....
Since I have branched out into Fashion Blogging, which is since March-April 2010, I have read unbelievable number of posts on what a blogger should or shouldn't do. Hey! for all you know I might have written a few such posts myself in the past too. But lately I feel that there are more and more posts analyzing 'the concept of blogging' than actually blogging. Of course some of these posts are helpful and you learn about new ways to make your blog better and what-not. But some of them are just bull crap telling you to do or not to do things that might annoy him/her or a bunch of them. [How to tweet, How to post, How to comment, etc.]
Let's not make blogging a 'science'. It is not a matter of national security where people need to abide by a certain set of rules and norms. Everyone will fall (or may be not!) and learn and change if they wish to or vice versa. It was supposed to be a medium to share [your thoughts, art, ideas, outfits] and inspire. How about just letting it be that and not publish a standard operating manual on 'How to or not to Blog'.
To make sure no one comes back with their paws to attack me, this does not apply to technical blogs, forums, or any other community which is dedicated to the technical aspects of blogging. I do realize that there are people who are looking to make blogging their full time career and would be interesting in having all the tools and knowledge on how they can achieve that. This is more to do with everyday bloggers who wake up one day and decide they are going to impart their unasked for wisdom.
*breathe.in.breathe.out* Moving on to the outfit, I wore it yesterday for an impromptu date night at an Indian Restaurant. We were craving to eat some South Indian food, after my cousin and my parents, coincidently, both told that they had South Indian food on Sunday! However, we eat dinner at 5 ish pm and the restaurant only opens by 6pm, so we had to make do with North Indian meal. It was delicious nonetheless!
P.S. if it sounds too spicy then I blame it on the Indian Food I had last night! :P

ReplyDeleteI LOVE those pants T! You look gorg and you finally made it to a EBEW post day! :D
I love the chain :) esp cos they are hand made...
ReplyDeleteVery interesting, Tanvi! It's funny, I personally really enjoy those sorts of posts because I'll sometimes find a great tip or a helpful website that I wouldn't have known about before. I use them as guidance or inspiration, I guess, because there are so many elements of blogging that I don't understand and want to learn about. Borrowing from the experience of others can make it easier. I've written a few posts myself in an attempt to help others who might be looking for more information, but I never consider that readers may not care for them or find them patronizing in any way. See, I learned something new from this post too! Haha. It's always great to know how each blogger feels.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love this look; the pants are amazing! I've never been to Zara and I really need to get there. I'll always see something I love on a blogger and sure enough...it's from Zara. ;)
Recently, I have been enjoying all your posts. Keep up the good work. The quality of photographys have jumped to professional level. All credit to Mr. Fabulous.
ReplyDeleteLove to read your blog daily. Makes me feel you r right here with us. Miss you.
- Ur Bro ;)
Completely agree with you..
ReplyDeleteWe blog to share our things with the world and to make new friends. There is no need to go into more technical of it. I do not follow any rule here and do it whatever my heart says... :)
as always, u r looking fab.
Have i told u before...I am thinking to steal ur shoe wardrobe... hehehe
i knoww ya, sometimes i wonder does blogging mean copying qoutes and putting, as a post, fir toh hum sab blogger ban gaye..its about writing what YOU WANT TO. period
ReplyDeletelove the bright pants with the floral shirt :)
WOW love that ring and the shirt :) !
ReplyDeletesometimes those tips help, sometimes they just irritates you.. especially when they just 'cut' and 'paste' from some other blog, and you have already read the same thing hundreds of times!
ReplyDeleteyou look nice and bright! :)
that necklace looks really unique!
Loved your outfit especially that handmade necklace
ReplyDeleteLoving the red pants, the addition of the lime belt and nude heels is both brave and fabulous!
ReplyDeleteTotally with you on the blogging. I hate it when people try and dictate rules about how many photos, layout or content. The beauty of blogging is that there are no rules.
When a blog becomes too magazine-like I usually stop following.xxx
Nice text!! Like it!
ReplyDeleteAnd congratulations to Google Translator ;)
♥ Verena-Annabella
Hmmm... Interesting thoughts, but I think ppl give tips and all only to stand out. The blogging industry is quickly becoming so competitive and maybe that's why you feel this way. So I guess I partially agree with you ;)
ReplyDeletePS: You look gorgeous in the first pic :D
I love this outfit, especially those pants :) and ur very lucky indeed! always good to have gifts flowing in on any day :)
ReplyDeleteAs for the gyaan giving people, I think it applies equally to people who give gyaan in life in general thinking they know it all and everyone should conform to a set of select rules. I feel it doesn't agree to my being on the whole, because I think no matter what my beliefs are, everyone has the way to express their own in their own way! Considering the noise vs signal ratio on the internet, I'd ignore these woke-up-one-day bloggers entirely :)
OMG im so happy you wrote this post. Im tired of people going on and on about rules and etiquette of blogging. Jesus. Its for fun, lets just enjoy it...and to each his own!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the outfit..specially the nude pumps and the green belt
Talk about rules and the so called do's and dont's!But to each his own.
ReplyDeleteLove the red pants!!
Teehee this will make some people defensive. I cannot wait to read your tweets about how people reacted negatively to this post ;-)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I am wary of these RULES, too. I always thought that people should blog the way they live (e.g. be dignified --- no follow me emails, follow the golden rule, if you don't have anything to say, don't say anything at all, etc.). Common sense, yes? :) And write/do what you love. The latter is wishy-washy, I realize but that's just me. :D
Love this post, sometimes I find myself wandering across other blogs and feeling that mine isn't as good and then going a changing little bits about mine to be more like there's. After a while I stopped doing this because my blog is my blog, its not the same as anyone else's and so can't be compared. I make my own inspirations and if what I write about doesn't interest you then you don't have to follow me.
ReplyDeleteLovely blog :)

I love what you've written about blogging and shot number two from the top. What a great outfit!
ReplyDeletelovely sassy outfit! love how those pants fit you and the necklace looks like a designer piece totally!
ReplyDeleteThe handmade necklace is sooooo cute and full of love :))) Ah, you are right you know these post about how to blog and what to blog and what to do sometimes gets a little to know-it-all, lets just be tolerant of what people are putting out there.
ReplyDeleteLove these red pants of yours :)) I need to get me some of these. The florals are darling of course!
Love that shirt :D And as for blogging, I agree with you that there is no 'technically correct' way of blogging :) Each to his own :)

North, South...both are delicious right? And I am loving the pleated red pants...I have seen lots of people wearing the typical red pants/jeans but the pleats are a nice change.
ReplyDeleteSmart perspective. At bottom, blogging is self-expression and, in that, we're all entitled to do whatever we want. We should do what feels right. I do!
ReplyDeletei LOVE south indian food - great trousers!
ReplyDeletehaha..Guess Indian food works like magic fr u..I completely agree with u..Blogging is meant for fun and to have your own space to share your thoughts and opinions..It has gotten a lil too clinical and 'technical'..That is exactly y blogs like yours are so refreshing :)
ReplyDeletep.s: I had to delete my prev comment coz I didn't realise I was logged into my hubs' acc ..lol!
Tanvi, the necklace looks even better on you than it did when I was making it :-) Glad you like it, and it looks fabulous with this outfit.
ReplyDeleteMeetu D
p.s. The pearls are real!--they are called rice pearls because of their shape. The stone is Tiger's Eye.
I totally agree, blogging should be for you, not for someone else! This outfit is fantastic as always. The colors are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day :)
-Ellie
Love the outfit! It's too bad the South Indian restaurant wasn't open when you went. Here in Chicago we have a whole neighborhood (and then some) dedicated to the Indian culture, and there are so many fabulous restaurants! Reminds me that I need to head up that way soon- haven't been there yet this year!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous colours put together..
ReplyDeleteYour pants are to die for
Lee x
The trousers and the pumps r fab!!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right- there are so many bloggers analyzing the do's and don'ts of blogging these days. I feel like it really detracts from the focus of their blog, be it fashion, food, travel, etc.
ReplyDeleteGreat outfit- those pants are amazing!!
love the contrast in your post! and the breeze effect on the photos too!!
ReplyDeleteComing back to blogging, its the make-your-own-rules which attracts me to it. Why would I want to follow a manual if I want it my way ;)
You know how much I adore red pants this season and you look amazing in them! Totally love the mix of colours with the belt and the necklace..Beautiful, darling! Happy Tuesday
ReplyDeletei feel like i start a lot of my comments on your blog this way, but its always true - i agree 100%!!!!!!
ReplyDeletethere are some fashion bloggers out there that blog about blogging, and really, i'd rather not be told what to do, but would prefer to hear about their lives or other topics!
totally agree with you...
ReplyDeleteBLOGGING NEEDS NO RULES...
and love what youre wearing...esp. those pants:)
gosh you are a fabulous writer ... and agree with you babe ..
ReplyDeleteoh love those red pants.. the necklace is brilliant .. hats off to your cousin ..
Love your outfit and the pictures! Seriously, also well said just blog what you want!

i like the floral shirt!!...
ReplyDeleteand totally agree with your views on the "science" of blogging!!!
When it comes to blogging I think the only "do" is to do your own thing! That being said, great outfit and amazing green ring and belt.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Bre
oh you always look so great in pumps and i love your red pants.
ReplyDeleteand i agree that every fashion blogger should be able to post how they want to post and what they want to post. but i do think it's worth giving some SEO advice on how to make a blog better because there are some people out there who want to know--and therein lies the irony because you don't want to sound like you're trying to tell bloggers what to do, but at the same time, it's your blog so you should be able to write what you want to write. i guess it depends on how it's done, right?
Sweetpea, you always make me laugh...(out loud!).
ReplyDeleteI am adoring these red trews on you, what a fab fab outfit!
Have a great week!
x.o.x.o
I love the entire look! Grat look Tanvi!!!

ReplyDeleteI so agree with you sweetie! And you are rocking those red pants! LOVE :) xoxo
ReplyDeleteThe first picture is gorgeousness itself baby!!! And what not to love in this outfit? Right from the floral print of the shirt & the flower ring to the perfect pair of red pants & the pretty necklace - you've rocked it as always!! :)
ReplyDeleteI actually kind of like reading posts of how to do things with blogging. I see what works for certain people. I liked this more when I started out blogging, because I felt like I was improving my blog, yet not simply copying other bloggers.
ReplyDeleteYou are always so thoughtful. You never fail to amaze me.
I love those trousers. I love the tailoring...and congrats on the pearls from your cousin! And the ring as well. :)
Have an awesome day Tanvii!
Amazing pants - the color is insane, love it <3

You're so right. I started blogging to relax, so sometimes it's stressful when I start feeling too much pressure to do something.. or not do something..

Amazing style!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great floral print! And I love the bright pants. You look splendid. Take care!
ReplyDeletei have that shirt (in a different color)! i like how you paired it with the red pants... you look amazing, as usual.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Blogging is not a science. We should be able to have as much fun with it as possible.
ReplyDeleteI love the trousers. The colour of them are amazing.
Also love the ring! Statment rings look amazing.
The shirt is really beautiful, love this outfit.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure about the blogging/ science thing. I guess each blog is different and it is up to the blogger what they post, whether anyone reads it though is another matter.
Hi Tanvi,
ReplyDeleteThank you for this post. I am new to the blogging world, and to be honest, I blog primarily for myself. However, it is so easy to get bogged down on the "rules" of blogging...which totally kills the fun aspect of it! I like how daring your outfits are...the red pants make me smile!

ReplyDeleteFun post and great pants! xo style, she wrote
ReplyDeleteI love that you're so fearless when it comes to color!
ReplyDeleteSo chic!
ReplyDeleteI wholeheartedly agree with you -- blogging is not a science, and everyone should do it how they want to, and not abide by certain "rules". Great discussion.
Blogging is fun and definitely not a science .You look very chic .I just fell in love with your shoes and the beads.
ReplyDeletea matter of national security!!lol hun do a hear a bit of irony in your humor?then we might be more similar and connected than i thought!:D this time i'll skip the science part,if i start to speak it would take too much time!i'll only say u look gorgeous as always,i adore that hot red pants and the way u mixed it with green belt and ring!!!perfect for the dinner!:)
ReplyDeletep.s. the more i think about the more i love the idea of meeting u one day!:)

Agree agree when you say blogging should be as spontaneous and individualized as they want!
ReplyDeleteLove your red pants! And the pumps.
You are right. The blogger has the right to have anything in his/her web log.
ReplyDeleteWell spoken, Tanvi! What about creativity and free spirit and FUN??? - which you all channel wonderfully with your outfit. Creative and stylish indeed!

ReplyDeleteHello!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I started blogging I also read many of those articles, but still today I have no idea what SEO is or how it works! :O
I love this look, I've seen those pants in many recent posts of different bloggers, and I've wanted a pair for the longest time, its just that when I try them on they look all wrong. I hate that, liking something, but knowing it just doesn't look good.
Saludos!! :)

yes thank you , blogging should be whatever you want to tell about your self. people who make nothing out of nothing just need to get a life :). you are a beauty and im liking those pants with a passion ;)

ReplyDeleteonce again you look awesome
th emixture of colors is perfect!
I didn't have any spicy Indian food but I completely agree! I think the problem is when people start comparing their blogs to others. Then it morphs into something that may have originally started as a place to share your thoughts to a popularity contest. NOT good.
ReplyDeleteSorry for the rant, must be all the spicy Korean food! :O)
PS: Love the spicy red pants!
I completely agree with you on this post!!! Blogging shouldn't have to have rules. There are no rules.
ReplyDeleteI am in love with your pants!! I am heading over to Zara right now! ;)
xoxo,
Mel
Very good point. Too many unnecessary rules that just make people feel bad.
ReplyDeleteSorry, hon, I know you love adding your signature to comments, but I don't have time anymore to keep taking them out of the spam file! Starting to move stuff there to trash without reviewing. :-)
ReplyDeleteRed pants work so well with your frame and completion. I agree with this post, some people need to calm down with the "this is how to blog posts. I am one of those everyday bloggers, I blog when I want and how I want and not for anyone else. =)

ReplyDeleteWow....Love the red pants and floral top.
ReplyDeletehehehe! You crack me up Tanvi. I love that you do exactly as you say...meaning you do what the hell you want! Lol. Keep up the good work, my friend!
ReplyDeleteLove the red pants.. I tried those on at Zara and sadly they didn't look nearly as good on me as they do on you. That style just doesn't work on my body type so I will just admire how cute they are you!
SUCH cute red pants!!! <33

Very well stated. I feel the same way in that your blog is supposed to be your journal, your release so to speak. So excuse my french, but to hell with whoever doesn't like the way I comment, post, or rock my outfits-just don't visit me or even easier 'unfollow' me but DON'T tell me what I should or shouldn't be doing....the experts get paid to do this!
ReplyDeletehttp://thriftyandshameless.blogspot.com
I totally agree with your thoughts on blogging. I hope the little talk I gave in Austin didn't seem too much like I was telling anyone how to run their blog. My absolute favorite thing about blog is that you can do what YOU want, and I don't think there are any hard and fast rules to the way you should/could get that done. In fact, I think by breaking blogging norms or rules a lot of times is how you become the most successful!! (b/c you followed your heart) I'm living proof of that! :-)
ReplyDeletesuch a fabulous outfit! i want those red pants!
