"Socially-Challenged" people, hear UP!
1. If you have an appointment or a social commitment with someone always reconfirm it, at least 12-24 hours prior.
2. If you are running late then - CALL - and inform the person waiting. Preferably as soon as possible!
3. Always keep everyone involved or attending (dinner/coffee/meeting) in the communication loop.
4. Do not assume that people would know something unless you have told them that in person, in writing or verbally.
5. Last (but definitely not the least) wait for everyone else's food to arrive before you begin eating yours.
Please feel free to add to this list...
Wow u sure look good in this dress!! And i love the bag.
ReplyDeleteHey,
ReplyDeleteApart from the tips you look as always verys stylish and simply lov your bag girl... XOXO..
Loving the hourglass effect the dress is giving! Very hot :)
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, you look incredibly chic. Secondly, I second every point you made. I hate waiting. And people without social graces.
ReplyDeleteLove your outfit. The bag is the perfect pop of colour. I get fed up with waiting for people, I now give them 15 mins max and then go.
ReplyDeleteThis black and white beauty fits you SO well :) Love the bag too :)

the hot pink bag is lovely!
ReplyDeletebeautiful dress
ReplyDeleteyes list is important and perfect
confirmation is must
Amazing tips! More people need to follow these! I once waited an hour for a friend, with no call/text from her! And re-confirming the day before is a definite must. Socially Challenged people tend to forget stuff!!
ReplyDeleteLove your outfit. The dress is really nice and I'm in love with the pink bag.
FOXY!!! Very foxy!! ;)
ReplyDeleteI agree...its unbearable when people keep you waiting or cancel on you!
ReplyDeleteLove the dress on you! :)

I really wish more people followed these tips! So simple to do, yet forgotten by so many.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous look, by the way. Adore that bag :)

look stunning.aww ilove it.
ReplyDeleteyou look lovely and my list is so so long but I will write the ones related to the post:
ReplyDelete1. if someone is picking you up do not keep them waiting and don't expect people to go in the opposite direction of travel to go and pick you up
2. do not be rude to your server ever!!! remember that person is responsible for your food
3. unless someone has invited you to a meal, always offer to go dutch
i like that you have pulled back your hair for this outfit..it really rockks!!!
ReplyDeleteas for all the tips!!...quite agree...
super cute shoes!
ReplyDeleteto add to your list:
don't say "i'm not one to brag..." and then brag, brag, brag all night.
Oh to Be a Muse
Smart etiquette lessons. You might assume people know all these things but I'm constantly surprised when people act like they don't. Being inconsiderate rarely has a good excuse. Thanks for teaching us manners. :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THE PHOTOGRAPHS...there should be a way I can increase my font size because capslock is limiting yaar!!
ReplyDeleteSo stylish...
Socializing Don't's
* If more people around, don't go whispering in your partner or neighbor's ear throughout..WHISPERING is weird!
* Don't talk behind someone's back..especially a second right after they turn you their back!
* Don't be afraid to compliment someone if you genuinely like them or their stuff-will make their day.
* Don't give a fake compliment and DO NOT tell someone they have lost weight, especially when they have not..you should rather find a different topic to discuss because you would lose your credibility for the entire conversation and thereafter.
and basically i an go on and on.. :-p
Muah!
Gorgeous dress... and yes I agree. Although sometimes I think people reconfirm to a ridiculous degree. Last weekend I made plans to meet a bunch of people, confirmed on facebook, and one of them still called me two minutes before the time to ask if we were "still meeting up." Uh, yeah... did I write to you cancelling? Hehe, anywayyy...
ReplyDeletegonna be really hard to have that implemented in india for sure.. but im always late...even if by only 5 mins, but i am..lol...
ReplyDeletecute dress...im gonna be going to custo b's show at ny fashion week..ill give u update:)
love the way you've tied your hair and gorgeous dress! love the shoes ~
ReplyDeleteLove the entire outfit! And about what you wrote..lol! Clearly someone pissed you off majorly! ;)
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I do tend to run late sometimes...but I always call or text! LOVE that dress!
ReplyDeleteI like the dress...very smart and appropriate way and attitude that makes it evn better!
ReplyDeleteYou go girl!
its Cute!
Love the dress with the pop of color! Great tips as well.
ReplyDelete@Tanvi,
ReplyDeleteI hate to say but Indians are most socially challenged people. Always late, never confirm and assume all kinds of food....
so true, so true!
ReplyDeleteLovely pics and great tips on social etiquette! I could add several, but instead a pet peeve of mine is when there is a lack of eye contact. I hate when people don't make eye contact during a conversation.
ReplyDeleteLove the pop of pink!!!
ReplyDeleteFashion Panache now Sells!!!
i can't explain how gorgeous u look like!!!:))) C.B. dress is great, perfect match with a turtleneck!:))
ReplyDeleteenjoy your Sunday!!!;)
I am socially challenged. Too much to say least. Yet i don't know how my near ones are 'jhel'-ing me! Good tips.
ReplyDeleteI'd want to add just dont be late! I never understand if ppl know how long it takes them, how do they manage getting late! i love this look the bag goes really well with the dress! PS: I saw Dhobi ghaat, got it up on the blog as well. Loved it! :)
ReplyDeleteYou look divinely elegant and poised! Great tips, too. When I worked in the hospitality trade I once served a member of the British cabinet and was horrified when he started eating before the other guests had even received their meal.
ReplyDeleteManners maketh man. xxx
PS Sorry for the late comment, I couldn't get your blog to load yesterday.
I love how the hot pink, breaks the black and white. Nice outfit. Thanks for sharing and drop by me too when you have time.
ReplyDeleteCheers.
Well said. I do have many to add because I am a stickler for propriety...but if I start it will be Christmas... :D
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THESE PHOTOS!!!! You look sensational! I too love the pink against the B&W...posing against that wall was sheer genius.
wow...who got in the way of this drop dead knocker and ended up bugging her?;-)
ReplyDeleteloving that pop of pink in your basic yet sexy ensemble! nice goin'... and the 'socially challenged' write-up is hilarious! its like everyday one or the other happens no doubt! enjoy your time... when in rome do as romans do;)
ReplyDeleteyou look chic! happy Sunday

Wow! Doesn't that hot pink bag add some spunk to the dress or what?? ;)
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, you look so glam and elegant! I think this might be my favorite outfit yet! And I love your post, I have lately noticed that people don't know how to eat bread at a dinner table. Don't stuff the whole thing into your mouth, tear off pieces, butter, and eat! Argh! Love ya Tanvi! XX!
ReplyDeleteFab dress, Tanvi. And your list made me chuckle. The problem with rude people is so often they don't realise they are rude.
ReplyDeleteMay I add :
'Don't think its OK to start asking personal questions just because you are sitting next to someone. Not everyone likes to be asked if they're married etc...etc..'
Oh I had to add that I loved Cheryl's addition to the list. Braggart's do that all the time. And give advice freely to people which they don't follow themselves!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the comment, I really, really appreciate the input. I love that first shot too, to be honest. In other news, I love this dress.
ReplyDelete--Niklaas
Great list (and outfit!)
ReplyDeleteI would also say: ask if you want to divide the bill evenly because not everyone is ok splitting if they only had a drink!
That's kinda funny but when it happens, like, at the moment its really very annoying! I can add one more onto it
ReplyDelete* don't say "on my way" when you're clearly not. -_-
Love the pink!
Xoxo
Vee
OMG!! Custo Barcelona is my favorite designer - I love his bright and quirky prints!! Always lookin for his stuff on ebay:-)
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with ur list - looks like someone got on ur wrong side:-)
and love the pink with the outfit.
What about.. "if you are going out to get a coffee why don't you ask if I want"? .. its rude when you come back with a coffee for just yourself... hahahaha
ReplyDeleteLove your dress.. obsessed with that pink bag
:Lee x
omg!
ReplyDeleteI love the whole look..
You shoes and hairstyle steal the show!!
I could not agree more abut those pointers!
ReplyDeleteand, the monochrome with the pop of pink looks great!
Love that touch of pink by the purse!
ReplyDeleteLove that touch of pink by the purse!
ReplyDeletevery chanel x

I want to photocopy your list 100 times and give people handouts when necessary. These things are so simple, but many people still don't get them.
ReplyDeleteThe dress suits you fabulously. I love Custo Barcelona.
I couldn't agree with you more, sweetie!
ReplyDeleteOh my freaking gosh. Best. Outfit. Ever.
ReplyDeleteYou look stunning in this classy and chic ensemble. :) And I am in love with your pink bag. Madly in love. ;)
I totally agree with all your points...I always have such a hard time when I have to wait forever for someone to arrive and they dont call! Love your outfit, darling
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday
Muah
The pink bag is dope.
ReplyDeleteI agree on some of the suggestions. If you are late, please call to let the person or party know. That is just common decency.
Good job!

it amazes me every time i come across socially challenged people-- it happens a lot more often than it should!
ReplyDeleteI have already left a comment on this post but... I had to say... WOW!! Your brother is an EXCELLENT photographer! I LOVE these images!
ReplyDelete...I just assumed that Dr Fab had taken these (didn't see the TJ credit before) and we all know that Dr Fab is pretty G as a photog.
Totally impressed.
you look great! and i TOTALLY agree...hate folks like that.
ReplyDeleteWow Tanvi, you like such a chic professional!
