My Magic Hair Potion
I used to maintain them much better up until my college days with a weekly oil treatment, deep conditioning and regular hair cuts. However, with time I have become a 'little' lazy and the maintenance has fallen down to monthly deep conditioning instead of weekly. However, I recently started making amends and getting back to my old (and good) habits.
1. I apply oil once a week
2. I use my 'Magic Potion' once a month
3. I use hair serum to detangle my hair before combing
4. I do not use hair dryer/straightener
[except on special occasions which are rare in my life]
5. I get a hair cut/trim every 8-10 weeks!
Also, Anika from Sweetfaced Style featured me yesterday in her Spreading the Love Series, here. [She has a thriving on-going debate on her blog about fashion, women, shape and self worth. Read this to know more.] Check out her blog!
I also use eggs and olive oil but never thought about mayo
ReplyDeleteI love all those looks on you, Tanvi. I'll have to try your magic potion, those are three items I've always got to hand. xxx
ReplyDeleteur hair is really pretty! Mine is all wavy and frizzy! I guess i'll give the magic potion a try. Might just calm my hair down!
ReplyDeleteUp until my uni days I used to take really good care of my hair as well! It was really, really long - past my bum at some point. Everyone complimented it, because as you know having 'long hair' is the 'best' way to have hair in South Asia, but I was never truly happy with it because I had to keep it in a bun all the time (and I only cut it 'short' a couple of years ago!) Anyway, once a week I would oil my hair in the evening, then make my own herbal pack (with shikakai, amla, all that stuff :P), apply it to my hair, and sleep with it in, and wash it out in the morning. It didn't seem like a hassle then because I did it every week and my hair would smell of sandalwood for days! But after I started university it was definitely too much of a hassle and since I cut it I have become really lazy! I oil it when I remember which is often every 3 months!

Awww you look super cute with the bangs :))) I try to oil my hair once a week but faily miserably at sticking to it. Nice to know that I am not the only one with tons of shampoo...unlike people who are loyal to only one brand, I switch between shampoos depending on how my hair is feeling that particular day.
ReplyDeleteHey
ReplyDeleteNone of these products are available in India! :)
I wash my hair once every two days and Ayur is what I use. Have always used.
My magic potion is 1 egg, 2 tbsp curd and 1 tbsp honey. My sunday morning ritual. Try it out sometime. And sometimes I squeeze half a lemon into it also.
Great going.

I love the magic potion...I think I used to have really good hair when my grandmother was around every winter to help...after that I cut them much shorter, to maintain ...but I totally could do with some inspiration, thanks for sharing!! :) btw, I like you in short hair
ReplyDeleteI know that olive oil is a great cure for hair! Thank you so much for your suggestions! Xoxo
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks so healthy!! I am terrible with mine, I have really sensitive skin which limits me a lot to what I can do, and I'm lucky that my hair is pretty decent most of the time lol

Thanks for the fabulous tips dearie, I LOVE your long shiny locks. In my younger years (read: teenager) I used to do the hot oil (VO 5) weekly, but as I grow older I just let my hair be, but I wash and condition it daily :)). Been missing you, and am catching up with your older posts soon, LOTSA LOVE, j, xoxo
ReplyDeleteI have dry-ish hair as well.... I think I'll try your "magic potion". I used to have super-long hair (sit down on it long) but have recently cut it shoulder blade length....I miss those weekly oil massages you talked about, but I use the V05 hair oil thingies as well. I also like to use henna once every 2-4 months, I like the sheen and "spice" it lends! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat tips Tanvi. I get a trim every 8 weeks too. Your haircare ritual also shows in your hair 'caz it looks healthy and beautiful! xx
ReplyDeleteOh how fun! Thanks for sharing your secrets. You have gorgeous hair and I love seeing all of the transformations. Unfortunately I have curly hair that I blow straight almost every day so it gets subjected to a lot of harshness. I do get regular trims though and hair masks.
ReplyDeleteYour hair always looks great. Everyone's been asking me to show them how to get curls like mines but I'm haven't got around to it. You are the best blogger ever. I take my hat off to you beautiful!!!

The mask looks simple and easy - do have a question - read somewhere that Mayonnaise is very greasy and difficult to wash out from hair?? do u use some special shampoo when u use this mask?
I love ur 2007 hairstyle!! layers??
you are sooooo cute in your lovely hairband and that black vest top, is it indian or chinese??? umm...noting down the points of how to take care of my hair from your post now...LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteYou are so good to get a trim every 8-10 weeks, that is where I am bad! Maybe it's because I can't find a decent hairstylist that listens to what I am saying! xo
ReplyDeleteSooo many ideas! Thanks all.

i have super fine hair too! no volume and even after blowdrying, it falls flat in 15 mins. i am going to try your magic portion! have heard about it before, but never tried because the thought of putting mayo and egg in my hair grosses me out. does it wash off easily?
ReplyDeleteYou're lucky, you have naturally pretty hair! I agree, messing with straighteners and stuff too much messes it up! XX!
ReplyDeletehahaha I have absolutely KILLED my hair in the past.. it's quite tragic, isn't it? :) So worth it, though :)

Oh college days were my crazy hair days. You know, I once gave myself a haircut! And what a disaster it was. Now I know better and always invest in a good stylist. I have a pretty basic routine, and need to step it up a bit. Love your hair looks through the years.

Ahhh...but I think you have lovely hair...and naturally straight! beautiful!
ReplyDeletemy hair is hmmm.... wash and go!!! Naturally wavy albeit with many silver strands! I don't do much at all, other than coconut oil when I remember, I barely remember to brush my hair! and this post has reminded that I am due for a haircut! I am so bad. It's been 3 months I'm sure!!
Mayo is great for hair as is banana !

Hey, u use different shampoo and conditioners everytime, so is that good ?? Actually i use Loreal Professionnel's Absolute repair, and if i forget my shampoo-conditioner when i go to my native at weekends, i use my mumma's products, but i have experienced a lot of hair fall after that and then it takes times to get the older charm back... Also i have similar kind of straight hair like you, however less bouncy... :) And you have awesome hair, seems like nicely maintained...
ReplyDeleteOh sonali is so sweet! she is always making nice comments on my hair. And I love your post. Seriously no hair dryer or straightener? not fair! OMG I remember growing up my mom put oil in my hair every sunday! I am so bad now and never do it. But I probably should! and completely agree about the haircuts every 8-10 weeks. have a great weekend,
ReplyDeletenaina
