This is one of the outfits from the Boston trip that I forgot to post. I have worn this dress a couple of times before and always find it a challenge to repeat it but with a twist. How do you think I did this time?
One of the only things I can buy from thrift stores are belts!
Shoes - Mom's
On an unrelated topic, lately I have received numerous emails from people either asking question about fitness or about finding my journey as an inspiration [which by the way I think is a huge compliment, so Thank You!].
I would only like to say that I, too continuously struggle with my weight-management and health. I have to workout regularly to maintain my weight. There are no short cuts [at least not for me!]. I have written about fitness in 'n' number posts last year and there is really nothing new that I can add to it. The key to good health and fitness is your 'brain' [i.e. determination].
And I am not Ms. Perfect! Whenever I let go of my disciplined lifestyle, the fat creeps back in slowly and I am have to fight the bulge again. I does get very frustrating at times but there is no other way around it. So what's my point? Consistency. Some bodies just need constant work. Do not obsess over it, just move it! That's my motto. If I want to fit into my fabulous clothes and continue to feel good about myself I will have to find time and push myself, [I think] for the rest of my life!
Some simple reminders [to myself] to help stay fit:
- Eat slowly & Chew your food [helps in digestion]
- Serve small portions [but then you can eat every 2 hours, if you are hungry]
- Eat Fruits and Veggies [i.e. Remember: 2/3 rd veggies, 1/3rd carbs?]
- Fill your kitchen with healthy snacks [I don't keep any candy/chocolate/ice cream at home to avoid temptation. We go out once a week for frozen yogurt or ice cream.]
- Learn to say No! [Once you are full, you are full - No matter what!]
I think what really saves me most times is the ability to say no, esp when living with family, that comes in very handy! and I like this belt!
ReplyDeleteI really love gingham! :) You have done a fab job with the blue polka dotted belt.. It provides a nice pop of colour and adds defition to the dress... NICE! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat pop of color with the belt!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about being consistent about being healthy - it's about keeping healthy foods at home (sigh I do have chips at home, my weakness!) and we try to exercise consistently too. It's hard but we all want to be healthy not just for us but for possible future family right?
hi tanvi,
ReplyDeleteu have teamed up ur dress differently and i think it luks gud.....
i agree with ur point that remining fit is a continious effort and once u leave ur activities that fat in no time gets to u .... and then comes the worse part... u cnt fit in ur clothes...
cn u imagine tanvi- i have lost 6.5 kgs in 2 months... jus by eating healthy.... it feels great to be slim... and belive me i can fit into one of my fav tops i bought 6 years back..... yippie... and im loving it....
its the driving force for me to reming fit when i see myself fit into old clothes and buy small sizes for myself... :) i think in sheding all of this weight.. u have been my motivation.. reading ur blogs everyday made get into stayin fit...
]thanks tanvi... i love u :) >blush <
I do love a bit of gingham and I love how you've paired it with the polka dots, cheeky look! xxx
ReplyDeleteLove the outfit...loved the tiny little sun dress...and last but not the least, you carried one of ur best looks on ur anniversary dinner :)It was gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the fitness reminders...its amazing you are so motivated!
Lotsa love!
I love gingham. That dress really looks great on you and love the belt.
ReplyDeleteThanks for these tips. I've been meaning to get more fit but just have no motivation. One of my bad habits is that I can't say no to food that I love!
Like the sandals and that bag!! And your blog is very nice. I'll follow you from now on! Hope you'll follow me too.

I am missing my yoga n morning walks:(
ReplyDeleteM conscious of my meals but few things cant avoide with family. You know what i mean....
I will keep in mind all your fitness tips Cherie. The best part about my weight is that I am not losing weight at all! I am losing inches, which is, for some weird reason known only to me, really really great!! :)
ReplyDeleteI think the best way not to feel hungry is to get liquored up! Ha ha! Just kidding.
Anyways onto your cute as a button outfit. How cute are the stripes and polka dot combo, I hate myself for not having such a great pick of clothes and accessories. My choice seem so basic compared to yours. Well you are now officially my source of inspiration. Well on second thought I think you always were. :D
The dress and the belt are adorable and you look very cute Tanvi, but imho this dress looks better w/o a belt, the way you wore it before. You could have also reached for a a more sleek skinny black belt if you really wanted to wear a belt!
ReplyDeleteI really want to see what you'll pair this blue belt with again..it looks like a fun belt to jazz up a very plain black dress or something!
Love the white watch!

Dear Fabulous,
ReplyDeleteVery sensible advice. Cute and quirky outfit!
BTW, based on your earlier recommendation I had taken up yoga. Now, starting in September, I am organizing private yoga lessons for my entire family (incl kids!). Will keep you posted....

That dress is lovely!
ReplyDeletewell, me being someone who has to constantly work out to kep my body in shape, i agree with all ur points
ReplyDeleteover the years i have come to almost the same conclusions( after lots of experimentation and failures!!)
and one thing i cant still get right is saying NO!!..i mean i can say NO but my hubby being the foodie he is, i have to give in to him some times and thts my biggest problem area so far!!.....but im improving...im saying no more often as the years pass!!
Great weight-loss/fitness tips as usual. Normally your body tells you what you need and you shouldn't fight to be something that's just not natural - I have come to realise that even though I weighed a certain amount a few years ago, I am older now, my body is different, and looking at old pictures it actually suits me better to have a few extra pounds. So I think it's best to stay active, eat healthily, and embrace your body the way it is, because *usually* when you do those things, your body settles into its natural, healthy weight. If you want to be supermodel-skinny you have to try a LOT harder, and sometimes it's just not worth it - especially if your body's not built that way!

That dress has such a cute vintage vibe. I dig it paired with the tougher black accessories.
ReplyDeletei like how you have wore the dress differently every time..but i love the first one better..love all the beads :)
ReplyDeleteI don't have trouble with eating healthy..its the exercising part that I find so damn hard :(
ReplyDeleteI love that you've used the little drawing as your profile photo.
ReplyDeleteGreat tips on keeping fit. For me it's always been about keeping a balanced weight as I was skinny for so long despite trying to put on weight for years.
Well missy, so much to say on this post... first, I love the belt with the dress. I think the contrasting colors really look awesome. Second, this is coming at the perfect time, as I am starting a diet (or shall we call it a new way of eating) today! I can use all the inspiration I can get.
ReplyDeleteToo cute, like the belt!
ReplyDeleteI agree about keeping healthy snacks. I just bought a great big bag of healthy puff cheetos this wknd. I fell off the wagon for a minute but I'm back on now! ;) xoxo

ReplyDeleteI had been chubby my entire life n it's only last year that I lost all the weight. It took me a lot of discipline and my new body gives me the inspiration to hang onto the regime. :)
