9 Things That Felt Good This Week

“I believe that beyond this space and time, all is well and all will be well.” — Oprah

I have lost all concept of time ... While I can't tell which day of the week it is on most day, I also feel time is flying and I am (surprisingly) getting more and more used to this state-of-life. I am continuing to be focused on the positives life has to offer. Spontaneously ten minutes back I thought it would be a good idea to make a list of everything I enjoyed this week. And if you are going to make a list might as well share it on the blog, am I right?

1. Finding a rhythm to life in the time of COVID. I have a routine where my day is split in two hour intervals between 8am and 10pm. It has helped with me productivity as well as to maintain sanity through these times. I find it extremely helpful to focus on the task-at-hand and immediate goals rather than worry about the future.

2. Trying new workouts from different YouTube channels. I was never a workout-from-home kinda person. Once in a while, on a weekend or due to bad weather was another thing but never on daily-basis. I enjoy outdoors and group classes. Not in a million years I would have imagined that I will one day enjoy working out in my living room this much. Over the past weeks I have found some amazing YouTube channels with no equipment workouts and now I have started looking forward to my daily sweat sessions.

3. Converting things in my pantry and freezer into edible and delicious foods. I have always enjoyed trying new recipes and cooking innovative dishes but now it is one of my goals. I am truly enjoying being creative in the kitchen and using existing ingredients from the pantry and turning them into delicious meals. Today I made Banana Chocolate Chip Ice Cream. Recipe here.

4. My new sweatshirt (and these super comfortable pants) from Grey State Apparel. I fell in love with this brand last year (here and here). This time around I wanted to pick pieces which were a little more laid back and something I could wear while being cooped up at home. The sweatshirt I am wearing in today's post is super light and perfect for spring weather. Plus, I love the use of traditional Kantha embroidery "love more" on the chest, and Kantha stitching at the armholes and hem.

5. Video calls with family and friends back home. One thing I am extremely glad about it how this world crisis has made us all reassess our priorities and reconnect with our loved ones across the globe. Because one thing is for sure that if someone is not on your mind in these times, then they definitely do not have any space in your heart any more.

6. Midday strolls and evening walks. In my daily rhythm I have incorporated a light stroll in the first half of the day and a brisk walk in the second half of the day. Both are something I look forward to with anticipation.

7. Applying eye patches. Confession: I had never used eye patches before but in the interested of using everything which has been lying around my house I found eye patches from several brands in my cabinet. Hence, the decision to indulge in some self care. Every evening ... or let's be honest, I am too lazy for that so actually ... every other evening I apply them for 10-15 minutes while watching television. Bonus: I wake up to softer-brighter-eyes in the morning.

8. Redecorating home without any new purchases. I have always loved moving things around in my house. In fact it is one of my criterias while purchasing furniture or home-decor goods is that I should be able to move and re-arrange the pieces without losing the design-integrity or color scheme. Now my home is spring ready plus COVID ready - aka - several cozy nooks and corners to go and work or hide away. HA!

9. Watching Schitt's Creek on Netflix. This is the latest show I have been watching a few episodes of every evening. I have to say my favorite character is Alexis. The chutzpa of the character and the way Annie Murphy plays it, is total perfection.

  3. I love that you are taking the time to list the positive things. We tend to focus on what we can't do, but there is so much we can!

  4. Love all of these! I've been doing a lot of the same - just concentrating on getting things done now instead of worrying about the future, watching Schitt's Creek, evening walks, youtube workouts and of course, cool eye patches.

  5. It is great to see a positive article for once during this period. I did all of these things except the eye patches this week, I swapped mine for pimple patches thanks to annoying hormonal outbreaks. But finally finding a routine like you has brought me more sanity this week than any of the previous weeks.

  12. Is it March? April? May? You're right -- time has disappeared as structure to our lives. In this free-floating period, the sanest, smartest thing to do is what you describe: dive into projects we neglect during normal life. Like cooking new food, experimenting with new exercise ideas, etc. BTW, the photos in this post are phenomenal!

  17. You look lovely in that sweater! Great colors in your home as well. I've been doing YouTube workouts -- I like to follow Lucy Wyndham-Read's channel. Also been taking walks almost daily and doing a ton of decorating. So glad you've started watching Schitt's Creek. I got into it last fall and totally love it. I'm desperately waiting to be able to watch the final season once it's available on Netflix. I think Moira might be my favorite, lol, but they're all amazing.

  20. Number 5 has been what we have been most grateful for, we have more time and have used it to connect more frequently and build deeper connections with family and friends.

  27. Ah love such lists! Any list to be honest :) I have promised myself I will start writing down what I liked or not liked during the day. Sounds like it will surely help!
Beautiful jumper in a color that not only suits you but also very flattering with your pants and haircut and esp the subtle embroidery is a catch as you said :)
When I binged on Schitt’s Creek last year it was David and Alexis both - the way their characters unravel to show the person they are behind those clothes is beautiful - all within a space of 4-5 locations (surreally indicative of present times :-))

  28. Reminds me of the song ... "These are a few of my favorite things". ... Eventually this Covid situation too shall pass and in a decade it will seem like a bad dream. Stay Safe.
