Can facts counter feelings?

Reading Eastern Market

One thing I have been actively working on being who I am in no-matter-what. It hasn't been easy or even consistent but it has been pretty close. I know who I am, I love who I am and I am not willing to change, especially not to make others feel more comfortable. I share what I am thinking and feeling, when asked and when it is relevant.

So what brings on today's post is this tweet which I shared with a group friends because I felt I related to it.

Friend: Is that something that's on your mind?
Me: Not on my mind. But I read it and related to it.
Friend: But you are not a background friend love. Not to me. Never. I do think about you 😘
Me: One feels the way one feels - there is no logic to feelings :)
Friend: But even so ... facts can counter what one may feel 💁🏻. In this case fact = Love you lots 🤗

And hence, my post's title: Can facts counter feelings? - What are your thoughts on it?

Moving on to the outfit ... These pictures were taken during one of our trips to Philadelphia. We are at the Reading Terminal Market. One of America’s largest and oldest public markets, housed since 1893 in a National Historic Landmark building, the Market offers an incredible selection of locally grown & exotic produce, locally sourced meats and poultry, plus seafood, cheeses, baked goods, and confections. It is a must visit if you find yourself in the city.

  1. I love that dress paired with the jacket, so stylish and casual. As for your question, I think facts must influence feeling but to what extent is different for everyone.

  6. Ugh, I think it depends on the situation. Sometimes feelings trump everything, other times, facts can overturn feelings. It's really case by case! Also-love your outfit, your bag is fabulous!

  7. I think I agree with your friend. Facts can definitely counter feelings. I mean, not to discount feelings - because sometimes they ARE fact. But I guess it depends on the situation.

    Side note: love your dress!

  11. Love your style! And I agree that you can't always explain feelings. I love that you've talked about trying to be who you are. I think a lot of times people take that as being selfish, but I think it's so important to think of your own emotional wellbeing before being able to help anyone else.

  20. Facts cannot counter feelings because people will still believe what they want to believe despite the facts. Facts however don't care about feelings. Interesting topic and lovely outfit!

  25. This is so cute! Yes, one feels the way one feels and there's no logic to the feelings. The fact 'love you lots' can definitely counter anyone's feelings. This is heart-touching. Love the beautiful shades of blue you are wearing. The Reading Terminal Market also sounds like an interesting place to explore.

  28. First, I love this dress. OK, you know what's funny? I've felt like a background friend almost my entire life. I made many friends in elementary, middle and high school, but I never felt particularly close to any one friend in my group. I felt close to the group as a whole. But I have made a couple of friends over the years whom I'm pretty close to. But like you said, you feel the way you feel. To your friend, it is a fact that you're not in the background. But to you, that's more like an opinion. I think it would only be a fact if the feeling was mutual.
