I have always been amused with my own social media presence for almost 15 years. While I can be pretty outgoing with the right company, I’m actually a private person. I don’t feel particularly comfortable sharing all and sundry about me and I’m not too concerned with looking at what others are posting either. I somewhat exist in my own bubble, where I let-in people occasionally, if we have common interests or amicable vibes.
But I can honestly say that even if someone has read all of 2000 something posts on this blog, they do not truly know me! I can say that with conviction only because I have kept ninety percent of my life offline. I have always been ambivalent about my everyday life, and people I meet or handout with. I have tried to only shared my thoughts and views about ideas than about particular people.
So whenever someone tells me they are not on social media because they are private people, I cannot help but self-reflect and wonder how might they see me and if their analysis would be accurate at all? Nonetheless, truth of the matter is that social media is an inescapable part of life – avoiding it renders one out of the loop. Having an online presence lets you stay connected with your friends and colleagues and if you are lucky then with some like-minded people too. Thoughts?

I LOVE it when the cherry trees are in bloom! We were in DC for the spring a few years ago, and I was amazed at all the beauty of those trees. They're everywhere!

ReplyDeleteIt is the season of buds and pastel colors and there is nothing more that when these are reflected on the outfits.
I resonate with this so much. I'm also pretty private and I realise that really I get to decide how and what I share with the world and it makes it so much easier and happier for me.
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to go see the Cherry Trees! They are GORGEOUS!

There is nothing like DC in bloom!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteThose flowers are a feast to the eyes!
I do truly find it fascinating that a more private and reserved person would have a blog and social media following. I find that privacy is incredibly important, and some things definitely should be kept offline - however, I feel I'm most relatable with my audience and actually create relationships through being more open and vulnerable.
ReplyDeleteLoving these photos and those beautiful cherry blossoms. While DC is just but a few hours drive from me, I've never been up there this time of year for the blooms, since it tends to be so crowded with tourists. Who knows. Maybe one day!
These cherry blossoms are absolutely stunning! Love your skirt.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I think most people are similar in a way. Reading social media, peoples lives are so perfect, clearly they are keeping much to themselves. That's what I do too.
ReplyDeleteCherry blossom season is so beautiful!! I love these pictures too, such a fun season to shoot in!
ReplyDeleteAlso, love the skirt!

How much you want to share is a very personal thing. I always remember that my blog is a public space, and I only write what I would be comfortable with every person in my life knowing about! Love your cherry blossom shots, is there a more beautiful sight in the springtime?
ReplyDeleteChic on the Cheap
All of the cherry blossoms are so pretty! I'd love to visit right now.
ReplyDeleteI love cherry blossoms! Such a beautiful time of year...great post!
ReplyDeleteYou're right. I don't understand why people don't have an online presence since we can (and everyone does) choose what to reveal and what to conceal. For this reason, I know I don't really know a person until I meet them in person. As you say, 90% of their personality and world doesn't come through online.
ReplyDeleteI also share just a glimpse of my life through my blogs or my social media account. I totally like your skirt and those pictures are so lovely!
ReplyDeleteThese photos are so beautiful! These cherry blossoms are so beautiful, and the pink is just a gorgeous shade.
