You know how I said, 'traveling is a practice in patience', I have realized traveling is also a practice is discipline. I believe discipline to be my super-power. Once I commit to something, I really commit to it. There is no grey ground there. However, I lack the discipline to stick to my goals while on-the-go. I just can't seem to stick to a rhythm to make sure I am able to enjoy the place and yet not give up completely on my lifestyle.
A common response I get to my dilemma is that "don't be hard on yourself and take it easy while traveling." That is a good advice for those you might travel once or twice a year. I am headed someplace every other weekend. That fundamental doesn't work in my case. I need to find a way to be disciplined even when traveling else I will be paying for it later.
Another, thing I need to stop doing is SHOPPING! I have been on a serious shopping spree this summer. My closet really needed a refresh but now I need to stop. No, like seriously. Which brings me to today's outfit. I bought this jumpsuit last month on my trip to Seattle. Since then I have worn it multiple times and already recovered the cost of purchase! If you follow my Instagram stories you might know what I am talking about. Be prepared to see it a few more times on the blog just in the coming weeks :)

I'm really hoping to stick to my healthy eating on my upcoming trip. That's the toughest thing for me!
ReplyDeleteTraveling definitely makes sticking to a routine hard! One of my favorite ways to keep myself motivated to work out while traveling is by signing myself up for new classes! I love trying out new studios and by signing up / paying in advance I'm holding myself accountable!

I didn't realize you were no longer on a shopping ban. I'm glad you got this jumpsuit. It looks really comfy and I love that you can wear it with sneakers.

It's hard to not want to let go on a trip. You want to experience what the area has to offer, and that is food, shopping, adventures and so on. Maybe it is all about moderation.
ReplyDeleteWish I had seen your post before all my summer vacations! I sure could of used it!!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your jumpsuit! One of my favorite fashion pieces right now :)
ReplyDeleteI am with you! I need to practice self discipline more when traveling as well! I am quick to jump on the bad eating bandwagon and end up hating myself just a day or two in.

I can see how maintaining discipline on the go could be a an issue for someone who travels a lot. It’s easy to get out of good habits when you’re not at home. Good luck with your shopping resolution!
ReplyDeleteI definitely lack discipline when I travel because there's so many good reasons to indulge! This is such a cute jumpsuit. I'm glad that the purchase is something you are getting use out of, especially because you are trying to cut your shopping.
ReplyDeleteI need to practice good self discipline when traveling too. It's so hard bc you get so caught up in the moment! But thank you for the reminder!

cute & little
No wonder you wear the jumpsuit so often. It looks super comfy and the colors suits you to a T.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I'll be able to manage travelling around so much, I'm too much of a homebody, but I can understand that it must be difficult to find a balance between enjoying a new city or space and still focusing on your long term goals.
I travel a lot and I totally agree that traveling is a practice in patience, especially when you try to navigate the location of the attraction that you are going to visit. The wrong turns can lead to a lot of frustration so practising patience is so important during our trip. BTW, I love your blue jumpsuit, super cute!
ReplyDeleteI think that on vacation, you may want to simply relax and allow yourself to have some fun. Just don't go overboard.
ReplyDeleteYour outfit is pretty and your photos are always gorgeous!Do you take it by phone or camera ?
ReplyDeleteI adore this jumpsuit Tanvi, it's gorgeous and looks so comfy and versatile. I need to start shopping, I just have no style lol
ReplyDeleteI like to try and find a healthy balance- that can be hard though!

Ahh your vice may be shopping - but mine is food. I can't help but try new restaurants, cafes, and the like while I'm traveling. But it's just so fun haha! I definitely get this!
ReplyDeleteYou have to keep shopping. That's the only way you are going to keep showing us your amazing style.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree about having a vacation discipline. Such a great article
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to not go crazy when travelling! Something I need to work on for sure.
ReplyDeleteI don't travel so much, maybe 5-6 times per year. However, I know EXACTLY what you mean. I just came back from spending two weeks in Italy, usually vacation there means LOADS of EATING because my hubby's family there live in the countryside and they cultivate their own produce, they have their own chickens and all (as a hobby, they're not really farmers! they have day jobs like us!) and everything is so delicious. They are big foodies in Italy. However in June I set my goal to lose weight and train more, so I spent my vacation declining offers to eat. It was the hardest thing (especially home made gelato!!) but When I came back home I had lost an extra 1.8kg during my vacation and it was the BEST reward!
ReplyDeleteMy weakness is food and fitness, and I find it so difficult when travelling to eat sensibly and exercise. Love that jumpsuit! I want one now too!
ReplyDeleteDiscipline is very important in life. Perhaps, a general schedule will help you when you travel to do the things you really want.
ReplyDeleteI, too, have also worn outfits multiple times. It's always great to find clothes you love!
I always have the urge to shop while traveling and my budgeting goes right out the window! I totally need to practice better discipline.
