Four Days Work Week

Bindi Love Tanvii.com

Lately I have applied the '4 working-days-schedule' to my self-employed life. First time I had heard about this was at my job, back in Texas. We used to have a 10 hour work days Monday to Friday and then three days off. Back then I didn't quite enjoy this set up as it ended up being a 12+ hours days with commute. It didn't leave much time to do anything else, except eat sleep and work, on those 4 days. But being self-employed this new set-up has really helped me unwind and not be as stressed. I usually work for a few hours on Friday mornings and then take the whole day off. It has made such a difference.

I have always worked over the weekends on planning, editing and scheduling. Weekends are also when I take most of the outfit pictures but all of this combined is not as demanding as the 12 hours days Monday-Friday. Anyone who thinks being a content creator is easy, needs to really think twice. While I love content creation and coming up with ideas for posts for different platforms, the whole process can be quite draining. It requires long hours in front of the computer and phone with little in-person interaction. It is not the hardest job around but it is not as easy as it might appear from a distance. That's all I am saying!

Moving on to the outfit .... In last two months I have worn this exact same outfit for at least five times. I have not even bothered to mix and match. By cost per wear breakdown I have already recovered the cost of this top ($30).

  1. What a cute outfit. No wonder you wear it often. As someone who also works for himself, I've been experimenting with taking 1-2 days off a month. That doesn't sound like much but, after three decades of toil, it's significant. I'm finding my morale is greatly improved by these mini-vacations.

  2. I think your outfit is spot on and perfect for autumn. I would wear it as often as possible as well (I do love clothes which are inspired by the Indian fabrics and I did get a few when I was in Delhi for my wardrobe). I wish I could take some days off as well, but with a full time job and a blog to run it seems almost impossible to do so. I even work on planes, when I'm traveling from one country to another.

  4. Your bag is so fab. I used to do the 4/10 shift at my job in Florida. I typically post on my blog three times a week and post on social four times a week. I like to take the other days off unless something requires me to post. But yes, taking those 3 days off is such a relief.

  6. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the whole world decided to make it a 4 day week Tanvi. We never seem to get time just to "BE" anymore and everything has become such a mad rush. Maybe someone will invent a time creator machine? I'd be first in line to get myself one of those

  14. I worked for Amazon. We had 4 10 hour days and 3 days off. I hated working so long and late, but then I was glad to have 3 days off. And they even offered us time off if work was slow. So much better than working a 8-5 job behind a desk later.

  17. It's a great outfit - I do the same thing sometimes when I find an outfit I like - it goes on repeat for a while. I am also beginning to think about limiting my work schedule more to maintain some sanity and find ways to be more efficient when I am working. You are not kidding - creating quality content is almost never-ending and is a lot of work!

  27. I like your comfy work style! I am self-employed as in both of my two careers, and it is so nice when I can have only a 4 day work week! I was really looking forward to this week being a 4 day work week due to Thanksgiving.

  28. Huge fan of the 4 day work week. I know I'd be more inclined to work if I knew I only had to work 4 days.

  29. I could most likely get myself to adapt to a 4 day work week. It would be great! Love your outfits, so pretty!

  30. I love the idea of the 4 day work plan, If I hadn't started my new job this would be perfect for me and blogging. I love the outfit, can totally see why you keep revisiting it!

  31. I love your top! That is a perfect piece that can be dressed up or down.

  32. I totally get what you said about content creation - it's a job for sure! Yes, we love it, but it is definitely not the sit-back and relax job people think it is... until they try to start up a blog and realize it's too much work :) You're doing a fabulous job with your scheduling, it sounds! Your outfit is so great, especially for that price!

  33. I wish a 4 day workweek was an option at my current job. Would certainly be helpful for my blogging. Totally agree that content creating is not as easy as it seems to outsiders.

  34. This pairing works perfectly and you shouldn't change! I am working 24/7 and it's almost impossible to have a 4 day work week for me now... But in the case where i have a family of my own, it might be possible...

  35. You look so gorgeous in these photos. I agree that it is hard for people to see blogging as an actual career and I’m glad that you’re able to have a 4-day work week.

  36. This truly is a lovely outfit and looks trendy with the jeans, loved the colour choice too. True, blogging is mostly seen as sitting with laptop at home, and hard to explain to many but these days we do have some respect in the educated world

  37. You look lovely, as always! I would really like to have a 4-day work week, too. I haven't tried, but I think it would be challenging to adjust to a new set-up!
