Being An Adult

One of the hardest things about being an adult has been finding out my heros were not all that heroic. While there have also been instances where I realized I had underestimated someone's strength and/worth but most have been disappointments. You grow up idolizing so many people - some for their charisma, some for their character and some for their achievements (and few for all!). But sooner or later you realize that they were as average as one could me. They were just human. But you had mistaken them for a great human being.

Don't put people on a pedestal. Once the first act is over, it is all pretty darn bleak from there. You might realize that things as they had appeared, when you were younger, actually never even existed!

Jumping right into the outfit, I have not worn something this bright in a long time. When I had purchased it, I was pretty excited about it, but the more I look at this shirt dress the more I wonder, why did I buy it? It is super comfy and easy to style during summers though, which makes it a winner. What do you think about this summer-bright-look?

  5. I've always heard that saying: "Never meet your heroes." I met a "blogging hero" of mine last year at a blogging conference and she was aloof and snotty. I was so disappointed!!

Anyways - you look great in fuchsia! I love the classic shape of this shirt dress too.

  12. Casual and cute. And we often learn a lot from the mistakes of our heroes. The most important lesson, I think, is that even heroes are human.

  16. Once we grow up the perception on life and all it's aspects, including heroes, change. However, we can still find models to admire, people that are doing good in this world.

  24. love this pink-tastic number. being an adult is hard.. life will always throw curveballs, some more vicious than others. It's all about overcoming the obstacles though!

  25. I like the pink. You're right that putting people on pedestals leads to disappointment, but I value "heroes" with flaws. I think higher of people who own their mistakes and grow than people who always appear perfect.

  28. It's a very out-of-topic conversation about heroes, yet I couldn't agree more with you because the same feeling occured for me too! I realised that my heroes were human afterall, and it affected me for a while~

  32. I totally agree! Being an adult sometimes means losing the ignorance and learning more about people and "the real world". Sorry about your disappointment, I know it's something we can ALL relate to.
