Lust List - One Piece Swimsuits

It is 20 more days to summer, in case someone is counting (raises her hand!) and the pool season just started. I have been stalking swim suits online for a while. I needed a little update in that department. I am a one-piece-girl, mostly because they come in cuter designs and are more flattering for a curvy body. Below are the few that I am crushing on and have already bought this one.

Which one do you fancy?

Summer Knits By DeNada

You have time and again heard me talk about investment-statement-making pieces on the blog. I am so glad to introduce you to the label DeNada which specialize in handmade knitwear for men and women.

A couple of weeks back, I had the pleasure to meet Virginia ArrisueƱo, and checkout the Spring/Summer collection of her brand DeNada which blends the contemporary elements with traditional knitting techniques to offer unique, handmade pieces. Their new collection features light, airy, and open designs created with a cotton-blend fiber, which makes it ideal for the warmer days.

To say that I fell in love with the pieces instantly would be an under statement. You might have seen me at their studios if you follow me on Snapchat ('tanviidotcom'). I loved the array of colors, and it was quite hard to pick one out of them all. You can check out a short behind-the-scenes clip here (0:53). Whenever I cannot decide, I choose color, unlike most people who would choose black, I picked the gorgeous knit shawl in a bright summer color.

Initially I was planning to style it with a pair ripped jeans and graphic tees, but I I just happen to see this dress and shawl at the same time organically, and I just had to wear it together. It goes to show how versatile this piece will be in my closet this coming season. Although, I am quite elated about this combination to begin with ...

The Spring/Summer Collection will be available online at on June 6th, and will also be sold exclusively at Redeem, located at 1810 14th St NW, Washington, DC 20009

Lunch Date at Menomale

Now that the spring is here, we have been trying new places to dine and wine (even though I have not been drinking since last 6 months, so basically just dine!) Couple of weekends back I met Sahra and her beau for brunch. They suggested they neighborhood pizza joint Menomale

Menomale Pizzeria 1

When we reached the restaurant, we were not impressed by its outdoors. Classic case of 'do not judge a book by its cover'. While the the space is charming, it has limited sitting inside. We were seated promptly and the service was friendly and attentive.

Their bar has several interesting craft beers, which my husband appreciated.

The ingredients were fresh. The food was delicious. The presentation was tempting. Needless to say, we enjoyed our meal and the company!

Three Ways Thursday - Track Pants

03_Three Ways To Style A Tracks
1 / 2 / 3

This is not first set of tracks that I have worn formally or on date night. I have bought one back in 2009 which I wore it its last thread (feat. here). And then I missed them so much that I bought another one. I wore this to its optimum level last year, for a date night, for brunch and for a causal family outing. At the moment it has been moved to the lounging-at-home-wardrobe and hence it is safe to say won't be making an appearance on the blog any more. Although I might soon be purchasing another pair to replace them, as they are just so comfortable (and stylish, if you know how to style them!)

Juice Cleanse - How. Why. What.

Green Heart Juices 4

If you are on any one of these social mediums - Twitter | Facebook | Instagram then you probably already know that I recently completed a three-day juice cleanse with Green Heart

I have been doing a juice cleanse once a year since 2009. I had first read about it in some magazine and got tempted to try it. I have loved it ever since. Last month due to travel and other reasons I found myself getting derailed from my healthy eating habits. Whenever I realize I have fell off my health-bandwagon I find the cleanse to be an instant and effective way to change gears and get back on track. It has worked 7/7 times so far.

This time I contacted Diana from Green Heart and told her that I was interested in doing a cleanse and trying the juices that she had created with her team. Boy! am I glad I our paths crossed (last year, at a barre class!) because the juices from Green Heart were hands down one of the best I had ever tried. Not only were they delicious, they were filling and I could actually taste the flavors and the freshness of its ingredients. Words cannot describe how delectable they were, if you happen to be in the DMV area, you have to try them for yourself. (locations

(fills the blood with bio-available iron ensuring delivery of nutrients to organs)

Juice 5 (My favorite!)

Why do the cleanse?
People do it for different reasons. I find juice cleanse to be a simple to make positive changes. It breaks my cycle of craving sugars and carbs. It also provides all the required nutrients to help regulate my digestive system. Juicing regulates my habits and bring back balance in my food choices and portions. Some of the benefits I have personally experienced are:
  • Better well being
  • Reduced appetite (for over-eaters)
  • Better skin
  • Helped digestion
  • Helped bring back balance
Green Heart Juices 1

Do I recommend?
Sure I do. I do one every year after all. However, you have to know your body and know why you are doing it. You feel a sense of accomplishment once you complete it, which motivates you to continue making healthy choices. And let's be honest, this is probably the only time I get the recommended servings of fruits and veggies, if not more, per day.

However, I would like to emphasize that a juice cleanse is a short-term plan. It is NOT meant for weight loss and is definitely NOT recommended for a long duration. If losing weight is your goal, exercise and eating in moderation is the answer you are looking for. The best way to lose weight and keep it off is to make healthy lifestyle changes that you’ll be able to maintain throughout your life.

Check more about my complete three-day-experience in the vlog below. And as always, feel free to share your feedback or ask me questions in the comments below or via this survey /FacebookTweet / Email me.

I would like to thank Green Heart for collaborating with me on this post.

Inspiration : Bohemia

I rarely do inspirational images, but I am truly drawn to the Bohemia lately. I crave the Egyptian Desserts, the Moroccan alleys, Souq in Beirut or even the sands of Jaisalmer. Heavily kohl'd eyes to match the luscious long-locks with flowing fabrics, silver ornaments, and bright-hot-colors.

Who is with me?
the pom poms
the simplicity
the luscious locks (and jewelry!)
the silver!
color & gold
free living
Below are the dresses that have me thinking of all the above and more!

Maxi Dresses Are Out Again

I won't bore you with the weather details again. In case you are curious, nothing has changed. It is same as what I was whining about last Monday.

Moving on ...

If you are on Snapchat you must have noticed I have been on a shopping spree lately from one fitting room to another (and if you are not, then ,"WHY?" It is so much fun. Add me 'tanviidotcom'). In the last year, I have donated all my previous dresses and maxis. Well, most of them, at least. Which means I am ready for some new additions.

This season I am more focused on the quality of the fabric and prints. Also, I want to bring color back in my life. My winter was dominated by monochrome and neutral color palette. Now, I am attracted to blues, yellows and pinks. Anthropologie has some great dress selection. Few on my radar - this by an Indian designer, this just 'coz it looks so comfortable, this for its print, this 'coz it just looked so good after trying, and this that I am wearing below for it's versatility.

Today's look is inspired by the Mediterraneans. Lately I have been dreaming of the beaches, sunshine and flowly fabrics. Summer has that effect on me. Every year.

Dinner Date at Silver Diner

Last Friday, husband and I went for our weekly date night to Silver Diner. This was not our first visit there. Ever since we moved to the DMV area, we have been to the Silver Diner numerous time. Sometimes, even for late night cravings!

For starters they have an amazing selection of vegetarian options, which is obviously, a BIG yes in my books. But not only that, that have a great story behind their establishment, and I appreciate that all their ingredients are locally sourced. Food which is healthy and delicious, what else could one want from a diner, right?

Silver Diner 1
How awesome is this vintage-looking sign? I love it, from first-sight ever!

Silver Diner 3
I tried the Hibiscus Lemonade which was DELICIOUS!

We started off with the Edamame Hummus, which was finger-licking good and addictive!
Silver Diner 6
Husband ordered the Roasted Chicken Pot Pie, which was delicious (he said!)
Silver Diner 5
... it came with the side of Crab & Clam Chowder
Silver Diner 7
I ordered my FAVORITE Pesto Veggie Burger. It is the BEST vegetarian burger I have had in the United States. BEST EVER! I am not kidding. Go try it!
Silver Diner 9
We went a little crazy with the dessert! (hides-her-face-in-embarrassment)  First we got the Brownie Decadence. And decadent IT WAS!
Silver Diner 8
We had each ordered our own desserts but of course we couldn't finish it, so we took the Bread Pudding to-go which we devoured over the weekend!

Three Ways Thursday - Sleeveless Jacket

04_Three Ways To Style A Sleeveless Vest
1 / 2 / 3

I bought this vest couple of years back, thinking it would be a great versatile layering piece. And guess what? It is! It is a great transitional piece and with cold weather running right into MAY now, I am glad I made this investment. It hits right at my buttocks and can be styled with maxis, dresses, or practically anything else at all. If you are thinking of investing in a layer which would take you through seasons plus would last a couple of years, have a look at some of my picks below.

What do you think about the vest?

Peapod - Online Grocery Shopping Review

I recently tried the online grocery shopping site - Peapod! I had been curious about it for a long time, and when then an opportunity to review it, I jumped right at it. I have used it once, and I already know that I will be using it again and again. Why? Here are few ways in which I think Peapod will make my life easier:

1. On days when I have a million errands to run, and I know I will not be able to make the weekly trip to the grocery store, I just log in and order everything I want without having to step outside my house.

2. Peapod shoppers hand select the produce and meat, so I can be assured that I will receive good quality in my order.

Peapod accepts manufacturer coupons double up to 99¢ per coupon unless otherwise specified on the coupon.

4. The website allows you to pick your own day and time slot for the delivery. They also deliver on Sunday, what else could I ask for.

On big grocery days, I would not have to carry all the heavy bags up the flight of stairs any more.

If you are still not convinced checkout my haul video below:

Delivery Areas: Peapod is available in the following markets
  • Chicagoland, Milwaukee, S.E. Wisconsin, Indianapolis
  • Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Southern New Hampshire
  • New York, New Jersey
  • Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C.
  • Philadelphia, S.E. Pennsylvania, Central Pennsylvania
A few cons though
- They do not have same day delivery
- The selection is not extensive to choose from

Right now Peapod has a deal of $20 off your first order over $60 plus free delivery for 60 days.

Essentials For My Work Space

Office Organization 1
This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #GIVEEXTRAGETEXTRA #Walgreens #CollectiveBias
If you know me, you know organization is my jam. I love having things in order, and neat and clean. I am that person, who cannot focus on something, till she hasn't put everything in it's place. While it sounds obsessive, it actually increases my productivity. Surveys show the average person loses an hour a day to disorganization. I am not that average person. After a decade of being a 'working' member of the society, I sure know what I need daily, weekly and monthly at my desk.

Office Organization 0

Computer - I work on a laptop, hence I do not require the traditional office set-up. It gives me the flexibility to move my work station (if need be).

Office Supplies - All my office supplies are kept together, right in front of me. So that when I am in the middle of a project, I do not have to get up and interrupt my train of thought, because the paper clips are in another drawer or box.

Stationary - I have a few pens, pencils, pad and sticky notes stack. I try and keep it to a bare minimum, making sure I do not over crowd my space (theme of minimalism isn't just limited to clothing, y'all!)

Office Organization 5

Personal Items - Since I work from my own home, I do not feel the need to have any pictures or frames. However, even when I did work in an office I didn't keep any personal things at work. That's just not my thing. We all have photos on our phones anyways!

Snacks & Mouth Fresheners - Last, but not the least the most important item at my work space (I kid! not). I always have a few snacks on my desk which are easy to eat and store. Lately I am loving the new Extra® 35-stick pack especially, for its durable and recycled packaging. It makes it convenient to keep it at the desk, in my car or bag. Right now I have two flavors on desk - Extra® Gum Spearmint & Extra® Gum Polar Ice®

Office Organization 6

You can find the new Extra® 35-stick pack at your near by Walgreens.
Also, easy to find in the checkout line at Walgreens.
