March 2014 in Review

March 2014 in Review, Tanvii.com
TOP ROW: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5
BOTTOM ROW: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5
1/4 of the year is over! Wow. Where did March go? Not that I am complaining. I am happy that time is moving fast. I get restless when it doesn't.
Firstly, thank you for the feedback on the previous post. It was so unexpected. I was rambling as I always do. But I am glad so many of you enjoyed reading it.
As for this month, I have had quite a good run so far. 30 outfits in 3 months. You know I like such synced odds. Round numbers. And basically a routine and order. Looks like you all enjoyed the post with the health and beauty tips A LOT. I think I should incorporate more of those in the coming months. Yes? No?
Then this was the most popular outfit post. I don't know if it was the content or the post that you enjoyed the most. But that's what the stats tell me. The third most viewed post was on again on health and fitness tips. May be I should stop outfit posts all together, eh? :P
In fitness news: I completed the 5/100 and 30 Days Squat Challenge this morning. I have realized that these challenges are a great way to kick-start a fitness routine after the lazy-tiresome-winters.
Lastly, thank you to everyone who is still sending in their responses on the poll. I am reading them and incorporating your feedback as much as I can. Everyone who complains about the comments being disabled, check below - You CAN comment as long as you have a Google account.
That's it for now. Have a great week ahead!

Romantic Couple

I was thinking the other day and concluded that we are not a very romantic couple. Though I haven't ever discussed it with Dr. A. ...  at least I don't think we are. But then I started wondering what is romance after all? The idea is pretty much what the movies and greeting card companies has fed us over the years. No?
We, Dr. A and myself, are not big on public display of affection. We don't say sweet nothings to each other (I think that's just me). We don't give cards to each other on Anniversary or Birthdays. We don't even buy each other gifts.
But …
We do fix each other's breakfast and lunch because we know the other one won't do it for him/herself. We go to bed at the same time even if one of us is not sleepy. We workout together (whenever time permits). We do grocery together. We always try and take interest in each other's hobbies. We have more than one date night per week (lately). Well, basically we are always together (heheh). I think this is romance for me ...having someone to depend on and an equal-life-partner.

Five Minutes On Facebook

If we are "friends" on Facebook then you would know that I do not post anything on my personal profile. Well, except food, which to be honest, is nothing more than me trying to show off my cooking skills. 99% of the activity on Facebook is related to my blog and only about 1% of it about food that I consume. So what's my point? That you know more about me that my Facebook Friends (unless they too follow my blog).
However, if it were not for my blog I wouldn't be on Facebook any longer. Although, I hear that now you can sign in into Facebook Pages without having an individual profile. Hmm ... Something to think about.
Anyhoo, I got the inspiration for this post from here. But 30 minutes was wayyyy too long for an A.D.D.-person like myself. Five minutes is what I could manage at most.
5 Minutes on Facebook:

An article on cats. I don't care. Ignore.

As You Want Victoria

I had a wonderful-active-productive weekend. Got a lot accomplished. Ate healthy throughout. Worked out. Did a little spring cleaning. All-in-all a good weekend!
In other news ... I received the VoxBox via Influenster on Friday, with the #MoistureRenew Rimmel London Lipstick to review. The color looked so rich and luscious that I couldn't wait to try it on. (I am wearing the As You Want Victoria shade below).
As the branding suggests, it is indeed super-moisturizing. The color is bright, deep and long lasting. It stayed on even after having a burger. I wouldn't hesitate picking it up in other colors.
What is your verdict? It looks good or naah?

I love solid color tops and blouses. They are simply so versatile. You can wear them from day-to-night and style them in a number of ways. Although this color works more in fall/autumn but you never know with separates. Also wore it here.
What do you think? Do you invest in solid color separates too?

Shopping Destination: Madrid, Spain

Who is ready for a holiday? I know I am. I am ready for spring. I am ready for warmer weather and I am ready to head somewhere other than here.
El Corte Ingles has me dreaming of Spain lately. The last I visited Spain was way back in 2002. I took a girls trip to Barcelona and have fond memories of shopping and sightseeing there. For some reason I didn’t make it to Madrid and it seems like now might be a good time to do that. As it happens, Madrid is the #2 best city to shop in all of Europe (The Economist) and that sounds like a very good reason to make a trip there. Did you know,  that travelers spend more money on shopping than they do on sighseeing and accommodation. Shocking, right?
Shopping Destination: Madrid, Spain Tanvii.com
The latest El Corte Ingles store in Paseo de la Castellana (Madrid) brings together the world’s top brands at one single location. At one single stop you can access the great fashion houses like Cartier, Bottega Veneta, Bulgari, Dior, Gucci, Hermes … the list goes on. Anything you need from fine jewelry to gourmet food, you can find it at Paseo de la Castellana.

Let’s be honest, when on a holiday, shopping is not a chore or a necessity, it is an experience. It is something you would remember forever. It is often even the highlight of the holiday.  But we might not always have enough time to squeeze it all in the trip. Castellana is perfect for those occasions. You can find Godiva, Valrhona or Fauchon chocolates as well as champagnes from Louis Roederer Cristal, Krug and Bollinger under the same roof.

With 70 years of experience and over 80 stores throughout Spain & Portugal, there cannot be a better place to indulge and find souvenirs of your trip.
And this is the dance I would be doing, if i were going to Spain!
I am not but *fingers.crossed*

Lone Star

Remember how I wanted to shop the other day? Yeh! So we went shopping earlier this week ... and guess what? I came back empty handed. We spent five hours looking around and have NOT A SINGLE THING to show for it!
No colors. No pastels. No florals. ZERO. Nada. Zilch. शून्य.
There is nothing spring-y in the stores yet. Considering today happens to be the first day of spring, I'd say it is the matter of grave importance. Wouldn't you?!
What is wrong with the retailers? Don't they want my money? I guess I would have to rely on good-ole-online-shopping! #FirstWorldProblems

Moving on to the outfit ... The weather in Texas is somewhere in-between.
One can wear lighter (weight wise) clothes but still need layers!

Keeping It Casual

Recently one of my readers shared (via this poll) that she is planning to un-follow a few blogs due the sponsored content in their posts. I cannot quote her, as I haven't asked for her permission and now I am already typing this post but it got me thinking what is the appropriate sponsored content for a blog to post?
After much deliberation (of like less than 2 minutes) I think it would depend on the blogging frequency. For someone who blogs every day or at least 5 times a week and blogging IS their full-time job, then I think once a week would be acceptable. But if someone blogs twice a month and every second post is a sponsored post without any personal perspective then I think I might un-follow that blog too.
It would also matter whether the brand/product they are talking about it is in conjunction with the theme of their blog or not. A fashion blogger who has never spoken about cooking or food suddenly selling kitchen utensils is rather annoying funny. No?
This is what I wore to go see my CPA this weekend.
Was trying to keep it non-fancy. Did I succeed? :)

Blush & Electric Blue

Time and again i have 'fessed up to being a prude. It is not that I am proud or ashamed of the fact. It is just I am who I am. Watchya gonna do. Right? Well, pretty early-on in my marriage I discovered that I am also a haughty about ill-intended-married-couple-jokes. Y'know where the wife is always nagging and the husband is always the poor soul? Or where the husband is always dominating and the wife is the अबला नारी (poor soul). Yeh! They never went down too well with me. At one point I even started doubting my sense of humor. I never really found out whether it was me or the world, but I knew women around me thoroughly (friends and family both) enjoyed those jokes.

Anyhoo, I recently read the following joke and actually laughed.out.loud. Like LOL but fo-real! I was shocked. It is one of those rare "marriage jokes" that I have found funny. My husband tells me it is an old joke, but I just heard it few weeks back. Nonetheless my prudery and sense-of-humor is still up for debate.
___________
A wife woke up in the middle of the night to find her husband missing from the bed. She got up and checked around the house. She heard sobbing the basement.

After turning on the light and descending the stairs, she found her husband curled up into a little ball, sobbing.

She asked, "Honey, what's wrong?" worried about what could hurt him so much. He answered: "Remember 20 years ago I got you pregnant and your father threatened to send me to jail for 20 years if I didn't marry you?"

She replied: "Yes, of course!" He then said, "Well I would have been released today."
