Where did January go? Cannot believe we are already heading into February!
Well, I thought I will switch things up this year. Instead of leaving the recaps for the end of the year, I will get them out of the way at the end of each month itself. Hopefully I will be able to keep it up through the months. No poll this time though, but the comments are open if you really want to share (:

So how did January go? I think pretty good. Except the damn cold. I do have to get back to books and fitness with more fervor. I am not impressed with my own efforts so far in those areas.
However, what I am impressed with is, my persistence to figure out Google +. Also did a little html coding for the blog all by myself. Small victories people. Small victories.
Hope y'all had a good start to 2014 too. Let's keep moving forward ... shall we?

Inspiration: White Tulle Skirt

There is something so dreamy and whimsical about a "tulle skirt". No? I am especially lusting white tulle. It seems magical, pure clean (?) and can pretty much be paired with any color. What do you think?

These outfits also make for a perfect canvas for statement necklaces. *sigh!*

How to exfoliate for better, brighter skin

How to exfoliate for better, brighter skin, Tanvii.com
Growing up I didn’t use many cosmetic or beauty products on my skin. A) I wasn’t allowed to. (Thanks! Mom) B) There wasn’t as many options available as today. During my early teens my daily routine was as simple as cleanse and moisturize with medicated products as I had a severe case of teen acne. I got my eyebrows done (threading) at 16 without my Mom’s permission. I didn’t get facials done till early 20’s.
Anyhoo, the first time I used St. Ives Apricot scrub was in 1997. My friend Surbhi (you know her from here), whose Mom who was not even an ounce as strict as mine allowed her to get facials (among other things) told me she had used this scrub. I got intrigued and asked her to bring me some to try. A couple of days later she got me a teaspoon of scrub to try. It seemed a little meager amount for her to give me but she assured me that it was all I need for one use. I went home and successfully tried it without my Mom getting a whiff of it. I went to the washroom and opened my tini-tiny-sample of the scrub and tried it as per Surbhi’s instructions.
While I don’t remember my exact thoughts from that instance but I do remember being convinced that I needed it in my life. I convinced my Mom to get it for me from the Def. Col Store (the only one which carried imported products in South Delhi in 90s). And it has been sixteen years and I haven’t stopped using it ever since. Give this trick by The Style Dossier sisters a try. I have been doing this for as long as I can remember and works for me wonders. Avoid using it around the eye area, also skip the area where you have an existing pimple.

Brand new year means brand new beauty habits right? Well we learned a pretty great one from TBD. We had actually heard of this "exfoliating dry face technique" before but I was a little scared to try it. Wouldn't that harm my skin? Actually NOT! It has changed my skin for the better. Just wet your finger tips, take a face exfoliator and rub onto your dry face. Keep in mind when you exfoliate your face you don't need to rub extremely hard to make that "penny shine." Just rub your forehead or your chin for a little longer you'll get those great results without the rug burn. You can even use your palms to rub your cheeks if you need to for a little better coverage. This technique promotes new skin growth and puts your best face forward. So all those pesky dark spots or that dry skin, be gone! After one use you'll feel the difference.

You must have noticed that I have been wearing this ring in practically every post for the last 2 weeks! If you haven't then you have really poor observation skills. #JustSaying! (;
Needless to say I love it, as I won't accept it if I didn't. However, I have very valid reasons to like it this much. It is:
  • light,
  • versatile and
  • unique.
Read about the intricate manufacturing it goes through here. I think it would make for a great Valentine gift in case you are looking. They also have a other designs which would are perfect for men. Check them out here. Dr. Fab is not into rings else I would have definitely got him one.
P.S. You can see how I  have styled it here, here and here!
This is not a sponsored post. However, I was provided with the ring for no-cost for my personal use. The opinions mentioned are my own.

Yellow Pashmina

Sometimes I cannot believe THIS is MY life. When I sit down to think about what is happening around me, what I am doing, where I have come, I feel ... "It can't be true. This is not my life!" It is not a positive or a negative thought. Just a simple-blank-thought!
I do think that in my head I am living another parallel life. Life of my dreams and imagination. And sometimes when the two collide I cannot believe it. To be really honest that is when I feel lost. As if I am in-between the two lives, not knowing which life would I rather wanna live. As if it is even a choice.
This is my go-to-outfit for a casual-sunny-winter-day!

Shopping For Designer Bags Online

Designer bags are one of the weaknesses of most women and they like shopping for them. Women like things that are stylish and designer and one of them is the designer bags. However, the current trend in the market is that most consumers prefer buying bags online because they do not like the hustle and bustles of busy and crowed market place. Moreover, buying online also gives them option to conclude entire transaction sitting in the cool comforts of their homes.

via
Why Should You Buy Bags Online

Why should anyone buy bags online in India? There are multiple reasons for this.

  • Buying online offers much greater options for the prospective buyers and they can choose the one best fitting their requirements and budget.
  • Handbags come in a host of varieties and there are many branded products as well. While local brands may be available in the brick and concrete departmental stores, one can overlap the geographical boundaries to get branded and famous products from other places as well.
  • Buying online is more enjoyable because the buyer can carry out the transactions according to their own convenience and time span. The buyer can make his or her selection according to their own schedule.
  • For instance; one may like to purchase the "IT" bag of the season that may not be available in the local stores. Online purchase can easily resolve these problems.
via
More Benefits of Buying Bags Online

Besides all these there are other advantages of buying bags online as well. For instance; the designer bags would be available in various price ranges as well as multiple styles. Not only is the range of prices but also in terms of style statements the options far too greater in online stores. It becomes easier matching the budget and style of the shopper tailor made. In addition; many online stores offer hefty discounts and various incentives for the buyers and thus the buyer can benefit substantially from such purchases online.

What to Look For While Buying Bags Online

There are quite a few things to look for before buying the designer bags online.

  • It would be good going for branded products instead of their non-branded counterpart because quality would be more assured in case of these branded products.
  • Many cheap varieties of designer bags are also available in the market. They are poor clones of their original counterparts and the buyer may land into some unpleasant surprises at the end of it when they fell for the apparently cheaper price of the product.
  • Even while buying branded products it will be necessary opting for some reputable and reliable provider that will provide genuine and quality materials without overcharging the buyer financially in the bargain.

via
Quality and Affordability – The Trade Off

One of the major concerns of every buyer is the tradeoff between quality and affordability. While cheaper price could be one of the best options for any buyer, they cannot ignore the qualitative aspect of the products either. It is necessary finding bags that are manufactured using quality materials and should be sturdy and robust being durable enough so that it performs the task for which the bags are procured are carried out by them nicely.

While buying designer bags online in India one of the concerns of the buyer will also be that the buyer cannot have the first hand feel of the product as is possible in case of buying from the brick and concrete departmental stores. That is why it is important that the online stores that is selected is reliable and reputable and provides only quality materials to buyers.

9 Things You Must Carry On A Road Trip

I have never been big on road trips … that is until now.
I always found them suffocating as you had to be confined to the four walls of the car and simply sitting on your ass for long duration of time. However, flying as it turns out is not the most viable option considering all the time to lose in pre-and-post boarding. Not to mention the transit time. Anyhoo, recently I made peace with road travel. I think I might even be up for a coast-to-coast road trip. Who knows!

I would like to share a few tips I have picked up in my recent road trips:
1. Cash – Credit Cards are all well and good but it is a good idea to carry some cash with you. Preferably in small denominations for road-side vendors and local stores which only take cash.

2. Candy – Well, I meant to say snacks but then I like candy as my snacks (during travel) so I pick candy. The point is to have something handy to snack on because other wise the road trips are going to suck.

3. GPS/Map – Yeah! That ancient phenomenon which helped people travel from one place to another. That was before mobile phones and GPS existed. It might seem outdated but it is much recommended to carry one in case of emergency (such as battery dying or GPS not being updated!). Either way make sure you have one of them for sure before heading for your trip.

4. Cooler – A cooler filled with drinks, water and snacks (non-candy-variety) would be a good idea. Not only would you end up saving on your travel costs you would also save on time. Else you would be making one too many stops. Trust me.

5. Music/Audio Books/Audio Movies – Well of course you will carry music. Who travels without it, right? But better still carry some audio books and movies because if your road trip is long, you will eventually get tired of music. And may be it is just us (Dr. Fab & Myself) but we have fallen in love with audio movies. Time flies and we get to catch up on old favorites and laugh our hearts out!

6. Sunglasses – If you are the driver or the passenger-next-to-the-driver, you need a pair of sunglasses. I have forgotten to carry one a couple of times and learnt my lesson the hard way. Sun is very unforgiving here in Texas.
7. Sunscreen – Same logic as above applies except you also need this for good complexion. Make sure you re-apply it every 4 hours. UVA rays get trapped in the car and can damage your skin even when you are not directly facing the sunrays. You’ve been warned
8. Mini First-Aid Kit – You never know when you might need one. Better to be prepared than be sorry, eh? Make sure you carry some common medicines are aspirin, tums, etc. as well.

9. Car Trash Bag – The usual plastic bags won’t do. Why? A) Because they are not environment friendly. B) They can tear and leak. You get these durably bags which can hold all-kinda-trash which you can then empty at the next gas-pump you stop at.
10. Attitude – Last but not the least, bring a good attitude along. No one likes to travel in “closed confinements” with a sad and sulking soul!

Le Labo Rose 31

Le Labo Rose 31 body Lotion, Tanvii.com
If this lotion were to ask me, I would let it feel me day and night. It is the best thing I have found in the longest time. I happen to try it lotion last month and every since I have been hooked.
What do I like about it? Well, for starters ...
  • It is a hydrating moisturizer
  • It has a long lasting fragrance
  • It is not too sweet, not too oily, not too floral
The only con I can think of is that one might not like the warm-woody-spicy notes of Rose 31.
I also have the Shampoo, Conditioner and Shower Gel of the same fragrance since I happen to love it that much!
This is NOT a sponsored post. I truly just happen to like their products.

Sinking Feeling

I am by far the weirdest person I know. I would be having an awesome day and going around dancing (in my head) and BAM! something will come across my eyes, ear or memory and I would have this sinking feeling which could drown me (if I let it!). That feeling which takes over your mind like the black clouds over the sky on a stormy day. Do you know what I am talking about? Does that ever happen to you? If not, no worries. I know I am weird!
On a brighter note, when we were taking these shots we were SO NOT happy with the results, but now up on the blog, they don't seem that bad. Or may be my standards have fallen. Either ways this is what I wore the past weekend!

How do you feel about ...

You know how everyone always asks this question: "How do you feel about..." whenever something big-or-small changes in (or around) your life? It could be about a new job, change of city, getting married ... or what-not; I inadvertently never have an adequate response.
I never know how I feel when put on a spot. Or I guess, I simply move on with my life no matter how-so-ever it is going without stopping to think? When I do happen to "feel" something I give it a fleeting thought and write about it here and voila! it is out of my system. After which again, I have no idea how I feel about anything. Am I even making sense? Bottom-line: I think my conversation-making-skills are dying.
Oh! I should probably mention that this is only pertaining to stuff happening in my life. I most definitely can have much long-winded conversations in case you wanna talk about How I feel about stuff happening in other people's and celebrities' lives. #JustSaying (;
