"Take 10" with Honey

Last "Take 10" of this year, you guys. Time is flying or what? Crazyyy! Anyhoo this week I have none other than Honey, our Desi Perez Hilton whom I asked 10 random questions and she obliged!

Honey is the proud owner of the blog - The Daily Honey and also the sweetest blogger around. Her blog, over the past few months, has become my daily fix for all gossip/information related to Hindi Movies and Music. The best thing I like about TDH is that it is clean, easy to maneuver and always up-to-date. Everything a gossip blog should have! No wonder she has become so popular with over 1,500 readers already! I, for the love of God cannot remember the first time I interacted with her, which is weird 'coz I already remember how I landed on each one of my regular-read-blogs! But that's not important, what's important is that we have a celebrity among us today! *bright.grin* So I present to you, Ms. Honey from The Daily Honey. Here goes...

Tanvi - When did you start blogging? And what made you decide on Hindi Cinema to be your theme?

Honey - I started TheDailyHoney.com in early June after I decided that it was time to move on from my first foray into Bollywood blogging which was TheMidayMasala.com onto something which was far more ME aka Honey/pink/sweet/sticky and more juicy!

Tanvi - Is it easy to run a Hindi Movie blog, although you do not live in Mumbai?
Honey - Definitely not easy, perhaps even a tad bit harder with the time zone difference! Gossip blogging is a very niche field so it requires quite a bit of research and proper good quality content for readers to trust that TDH is a reliable credible source. I'm very dedicated in terms of reading all the magazines, celebrity tweets, watching movies, previewing music but of course at the end of the day when you are passionate about something, it really doesn't seem like work!

Tanvi - What do you do besides blogging? [work wise]
Honey - Right now I'm just taking a break post-University graduation so I can figure out where to go from here which is code for helping Poppa Singh [her father] with his business. I am also starting a new project through KuchBatao.com (which is a dedicated platform for the South Asian diaspora) to focus on the South Asian Hiphop scene.

Tanvi - What future plans do you have for your blog and yourself?
Honey I have a couple opportunities which have come my way through the blog which unforch I cannot reveal just yet but they are in developmental stages but lets just say you will "hear" and "see" more of moi! I'm working on an iPhone app and really redoing the site which more video content and gossip in the new year! I just want TDH to be a popular site for lovers of Bollywood and newbies to love. When I receive messages like "I'm not a fan of Bollywood but I spent 3 hours on your site" that makes my life!

Tanvi - What are your few other favorite blogs?
Honey I'm a big gossip blog junkie aka I die for Go Fug Yourself, Perez Hilton, The Superficial, WWTDD, TMZ, Pink Is The New Blog, Gawker with of course the bibles HuffPo, Vogue, Vanity Fair & New York Times! (God bless the iPhone & iPad!)

Tanvi - Have you met any celebrity in person? And one celebrity you are dying to meet.
Honey Unforch, I have not met anyone really noteworthy however Poppa Singh [her father] somehow ends up on all these flights with the likes of Bipasha Basu, Sonu Nigam, Deepika Padukone etc so I live vicariously through him! The only swoon-worthy celebrity for me is Shahrukh Khan!

Tanvi - What does your family think about your 'blogging hobby'?
Honey The parentals are very supportive. The Poppa is actually the one who is always on-top of his news and gossip, so he always sends me links of stories or is like "did you see what they are saying about ____?" And the Momma is my grammar/spelling/fact checker, my PR ninja and at times says the most amazingly witty things which become headlines for the posts.

Tanvi - You are quite active on Twitter and Facebook and your Blog, how do you find time to manage it all?
Honey - I humbly bow down to the Apple God himself, Steve Jobs for blessing us humble souls with the iPhone 4, Macbook Pro & iPad! I organize a few hours a day simply to research, Tweet, Facebook post & do all the Photoshop magic before blogging throughout the day. Its even possible that most days, sleep is elusive because it has to be sacrificed to feed the insatiable Gossip-hungry demons!

Tanvi - Hahaha! Okay that sounded like me! :) So which is your favorite Hindi movie of all time and why?
Honey Oyy veeey Tanvi! This is such an unfair question! But here goes my top 1 a) b) c) (must you put me in this position?!)

a) Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge: Sighs. Raj & Simran the perfect mates to each others soul falling in love on a Euro-trip but confessing love on good ol Bharat soil. Typical mushfest which cemented notions of a adorabaly good-looking desi boy who will serende me and buy me a cowbell. I'm patiently waiting Raj, signed your Simoney!

b) Rang De Basanti: Empowering message, Aamir Khan as a funjabi boy and lovely music by AR Rahman. I cried so much that I gave myself a migraine and went through two boxes of Kleenex. THATS how intense and brilliant the film was.

c) Hum Aapke Hai Kaun: This movie has set the bar of big Indian weddings for me which I haven't had the privilege of attending since I was a knee-high tot! But I believe that choreographed dances and a cute white little Pomerian will help me find a love in a shaadi!

Tanvi - You are too cute and funny - Honey! I think these three are on any-girl-born-after-1980's [lust!] list! ;) Okay, now before you sign off, your thoughts on Blogging, Movies, Fashion and Life!

Honey -
Life:
In my 23 years, the one profound idea which has been quite pervasive is that what is good (right, working or proper) for someone else will not necessarily have the same affect on your own life. One may feel inadequate after looking at others' achievements however it is essential to remember that we have our own individual flow and rhythm in life. For me, what is most important is that you recognize your own 'thing' and go on that great journey to discover it, hone it and revel in it.

Blogging:
I'm quite the logophile so I love the whole notion behind people sharing their experiences, thoughts and ideas on the interwebs. There's something very cathartic in taking all which is buzzing on the inside and share it with everyone. I have blogs floating about on all the major platforms which have really helped shaped my voice and writing ability so I hope everyone embraces it at one point in their life, personally or professionally!

Movies:
My second favorite artform after music for it allows you to literally see through another perspective. I'm always in awe of how the director takes the screenwriter's vision and breathes life into black and white. Film is such a beautiful medium which can really educate, entertain and escape an individual so profoundly.

Fashion:
I heart fashion- clothes, makeup everything! I'm quite the minimalist with my style who cannot wear heels (because I will trip and die) so I like to stick with a bright colour palette, light makeup and fierce hair! I believe fashion = comfort although a little pain can translate into an amazing outfit (sometimes). The key to good fashion, style and looking well-put together is knowing your bodyshape and what looks good on you!

What a wise-nut at such a young age, yes? I hope you all enjoyed this short tête-à-tête and I will see you all with another "Take 10" in the 2011! [Eeee!]
