On my previous post Devie said, "...your love for color is super infectious..." which got me thinking that had she [or anyone else] met me in my early teens wouldn't have said the same. I was the queen of neutrals! Beige, brown, grey, etc. were right up my alley. My Mom, on the other hand loves colors and hence would dress in the brightest color of the season while I would cringe at the sight and be there to dampen the spirit with me dull, boring earthy shades [all the time].
It is only in the past 5 years that I have truly embraced colors in their true form. Today, no color is too bright or too shocking for me. Bring it on, I say! Might have a little something to do with the fact that I am at peace with myself. I finally know who I am and who I aspire to become. Self-discovery does not scare but thrills me. I have found my voice and it is loud and clear ... telling me to march on ... and do my thing!
I am excited for 2011, are you?
very excited for '11 :D unusually so!. not sure I remember any colour palettes previously Don't think I gave it too much thought. But I rem thinking black most times. Now I think I've also opened up to colour a lot more! (Like it like it!)

I guess being at peace with oneself brings out the best in us...
ReplyDeleteLoving both the outfits! You have such an amazing collecting of shoes.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in school, I also used to wear dull colors... I just wanted to 'blend in' with everyone else. But now that I've grown older, I've had the same experience as you - I know who I am and I'm not afraid to be me! So I wear all the bright colors and sequins my heart desires :). I'm excited for 2011 too!

ReplyDeleteWhen I was in HS I wore the crazist combination. Bright colors to no end! I asked My "boyfriend" at the time why he liked me. He said because I wore the brightest colors even in the winter. :)
Now I wear much more toned down colors. (I also don't wear every color of the rainbow at once). I think it fits me better...because I feel like I know me a little more, a little more calm now.

ReplyDeleteOMG Tanvi, I thought the first dress was from Anthropologie before I read your caption.....where have all these unique pieces from F21 gone?
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you are becoming mommy's girl more and more.....I have also found that the things I used to cringe at about my mom when I was a teenager have been becoming a part of myself as I mature....like jasmine perfume, kohl lined eyes, bright warm colours....dark chocolates. I am a mommy's girl through and through.
what did you do for Christmas?
